Nightmare back to back for Eagles. Appealing given venue availability isn't a factor for either club.

Expecting a tough game tonight for the Eagles against the Gladiators. Fortunately it won't be a long trip this time to get to Glasgow for them and they comfortably put away Plymouth last night so we shouldn't have much of a hangover from yesterday's battle. I'm expecting a tight game in this one.

Nightmare back to back for Eagles. Appealing given venue availability isn't a factor for either club. Ditto for Bristol too. Might help Surrey get another unexpected win though!

Bristol's performance in the first half was right up there with the worst I've seen. Not helped by the refs giving everything Scorchers' way.
They did really well to come back and make a game of it with Scorchers doing their best to be as bad as Bristol were in Q3, but Surrey then closed out the last quarter nicely.
Am I correct in thinking that it's still true no team has won the second game of a back to back this season? Certainly not away from home, surely.

Tight game so far between the Eagles and Glads. Unfortunately missed the comeback as my TV kept kicking me out the YouTube App so I have had to switch to my laptop for the 2nd half. So far this game is going to be a cracker.
My gut it telling me Glads might take this one since they are at home but I'm hoping the Eagles can comeback to topple them.
As for the other game looks like a bad weekend all round for Bristol. I dont know whether this win is a sign of resurgence for Surrey or just woeful form for Bristol right now. If they can somehow beat Cheshire tommorow as well then I might be nervous for our game against them next week.

Really impressive win by Newcastle after a short turnaround. Johnson and McGill are a top quality combination. Johnson is just relentless. Whitfield, Green, Delpeche and Neighbour all had really good games.
Newcastle's next game in the BBL is on Thursday, away to London Lions at the Copper box. I expect a comfortable win for London. But London aside, I think Newcastle are favourites to beat any team.

Well as far as Saturday night entertainment goes that was an absolute cracker! Again another great performance by the Eagles and after being nervous for this game in the end everything came together nicely.
As soon as Onwas was ejected from the game it seemed like Gladiators just lost all sense of focus on the game and made sloppy turnovers and didn't rise to the occasion.
Whether you agree or disagree with Onwas ejection at first I thought JJ had hit the deck intentionally. However upon seeing the replay from a different angle Onwas was an idiot for getting himself chucked out.
And incident aside one highlight that I think everyone got a chuckle from was Green literally picking Johnson up and carrying him away in order to avoid him creating a fight and being ejected as well.
Credit to the refs on that one they handled it well to. Unlike a few weeks ago when it was chaos all around they kept the game under control. And if I'm going to be honest considering last season the fact David Sloan was allowed to practically get away with assault on Cohn and nothing was called I'm glad this time the officials actually called it correct this time.
Back to the game though once that incident erupted I was worried similar to when Leicester came to us I thought we were going to have accidentally provoked the beast within the fans of the Gladiators (who sounded incredible tonight by the way) and it was going to comeback to bite us.
However as the 2nd half progressed we still maintained control and fully deserved the win. JJ as well despite the boo's clearly enjoyed being the villain of the night after that as well. And in the end we did a great job closing the game out.
Going 5-0 now I'm happy to see the Eagles starting to come together more as a unit and long may it continue. Despite the recent success the next game against London though I think the success train is probably going come to a halt unfortunately.
That being said if London have a difficult night in the Euro Cup on Wednesday then given our recent momentum if the same sort of team that played Plymouth gets fielded for Lions then I reckon we might have a slight chance.
Either way to the earlier poster who asked has any team managed to win back to back this season. Looks like we have managed to do it.
Well done Newcastle Eagles!

SpaceJammer, excellent summary and nothing to disagree with. I haven't enjoyed a game so much for a long time.
I would add it's going to be tough to fill the Copperbox on consecutive nights. Especially when the second game is on Sky.

Johnson is showing what a consummate PG he is. If he maintains this standard he'll be a major contender for league MVP.

Great summary by SJ above. I was worried we were going to get into a scoring race we couldn't win. Result was reasonably comfortable in the end due to Glads woeful FT shooting. If I was Coach S I'd be seriously tempted to 'go easy' in the London game to give us the best chance of beating Surrey two day later. Surrey are looking so much better of late.

Gladiators guards couldn't get near Eagles guards last night. After the first quarter that's the best I've seen Eagles play this season I think. Really seemed like they've turned a corner and bought in to defence last night. I kept forgetting Whelan was on the court. Very impressive. Hope they keep it up.
