No-one mentioning the increasingly impressive performances fron the whole squad of the Nix. 2 wins in three days, firstly the local Derby then an excellent comeback against Scorchers. So many good stats from everyone who saw court time tonight, 5 in double figures and 7 hitting a 3 point shot. Looking forward to a very very good season.

Not on many threads perhaps but definitely not gone unnoticed here - Nix look like a hell of a team and I love 1) their togetherness 2) their 3 point shooting. Unreal at times. The coach has done a terrific job melding the talents of the individuals into a really effective force as a team. Nobody will look forward to playing them.

You guys will have a chuckle at this:
This was my post in the wrong thread earlier tonight
"Only saw bits of this as working at an event
Well done Eagles though! Nice for you to be competitive again.
We will beat you in any games that matter later in the season hopefully"
So I was working at an event in Leeds tonight - so just grabbed the odd minute watching on YouTube on my phone with no volume
Only trouble is it turns out I was watching the previous Eagles v Riders match where Eagles won at home. Didn't even realise I was watching an away game. And didn't realise I was watching the same game I watched only a couple of weeks ago
So I've driven home from Leeds thinking we just lost 95-90 again!!
Lol
Glad to see it wasnt competitive after all!
And the stands looked full in the bits of the game I watched!!!
Lol

How good were our bench players last night against Eagles? Got us back in Q2 when it looked as if Newcastle were going to establish a double digit lead.

I was sat at home watching on YouTube, the club always uses the space on the team coach for supporters to go to the games hence the audible support that can be heard at every game home and away. I could have claimed to have visited every current venue so need to get to Caledonia and Sharks this season (wife permitting) to maintain that claim.

No-one mentioning the increasingly impressive performances fron the whole squad of the Nix. Everyone apart from Holden? Has he been injured or fallen out with Ben? Some good results from Nix but Coach seems to have a love hate relationship with some of his team - Rideaux clearly not taking too kindly to being torn a strip in recent games.

True, no idea about Holden and if you're in Ben Thomas's squad Rideaux had better get used to it.

Woeful 2nd half showing from Eagles Well you were a starter down, what is Larry Austin's injury? Larry is out injured at the moment. I just caught the game now and all I can say is we pulled a Surrey in that one. Credit to the Riders for playing the better ball. Whilst I was critical the first 2 games I think they have shown that when they play basketball instead of playing for fouls their capable of being a strong team. As for us after a strong 1st Quarter we let Riders come back to bite us in the 2nd and you could tell by Halftime we were not happy being down. But instead of coming out and meaning business we instead came out and looked clueless. My only hope is that we can sort ourselves out and manage to do well in Europe on Tuesday. As for Thomas I do hope he is okay after going down in the 3rd against Delepeche. It looked like a nasty one to the face even if it was by accident. The thing I was suprised at was how the play following that wasn't an unsportmans on Kimbel after he stopped Delpeche at the basket and was lastman. Whilst I don't agree with it and glad it wasn't called unsportman as (I hate the last man call being that). I thought if a foul is drawn and your last man is back it was an automatic unsportsman foul not a personal foul?

my recollection may be poor - but had Delpeche not picked up the ball to start his shooting motion? If so then the unsportsman criteria of last man no longer applies and could only be a U for excessive force or not deemed an attempt at the ball (neither applied in this case).

I thought Delpeche went up for the ball and Mackenzie got him on the arm. If he wasn't shooting then I'm confused as to how we ended up at the line to shoot free throws as I don't think Riders were in the penalty at that point. On another note I just looked at the Eagles Facebook and it is safe to say the fans are not happy and fuming right now and to be honest I don't blame them. Again when you look at the talent we have this is not an Eagles team that should be 7 losses and sitting 7th in the league.

Eagles are definitely underperforming for the quality and depth of their roster. As I said before the season began, Steutel had better do well with his team or else questions would rightly be directed at him.

I got shot at recently on here by stating they needed to start "turning up" every week Just saying..... They act like a team that's actually done something, and pay no attention to the things you need to do to win games. For 2 years I've seen Steutel led teams pay little attention to what you'd imagine would be on a scouting report. Two teams in two years now have regularly let high percentage shooters do their thing with little resistance. Either the person doing the scouting reports isn't spotting what I think is obvious stuff or they aren't very good at communicating it to their players. It's maddening to see such a huge budget being squandered on the rubbish that's being served up. The league is starting to take shape and Eagles look to be rooted in the bottom 4 scrap for playoff places. I know they have winnable looking games coming up, but they actually have to go out and win them. I'm not at all confident they will at this rate.

But instead of coming out and meaning business we instead came out and looked clueless. I'd argue Riders actually looked the better 'team' for more or less the entirety of the game. Even in the first quarter I thought our offense looked far better balanced. We got some high percentage stuff inside from the big guys. Pinson was having quite a bit of success penetrating off the dribble and making plays. Eagles basically 'won' about the first five minutes of this game and that was largely a product of them making something like five of their first six threes. Once the three ball dried up it quickly became a very one sided game.

It was all (as it has been all season) predicated on hero ball. Another hallmark of the Steutel era.

Once the three ball dried up it quickly became a very one sided game. I'll give the Riders credit whilst I haven't been entirely convinced by them being as good as last season. From the way they played this game they certainly looked like their capable of improving as the season goes on. I suppose given now we are a few weeks into the season as well I would expect teams to have now found rhythm a little more and know one another. And again compared to the previous game I felt the won because this time they actually played to win instead of playing for fouls and moaning to the officials which they did to much of last time against us. As for the Eagles whilst I wouldn't say we are hopeless I do think we are inconsistent and so far are unperforming in the leagues. It seems like some night like beginning of the season and the first Euro game we seem to do well. And on other nights we look clueless and allow ourselves not only to be beaten but practically crushed. Do I think this Eagles team can make the playoffs? I would say yes simply because both Surrey and Plymouth I think are worse then us and their is still like 50% of the league we haven't yet faced. But as the above have said if this Eagles team doesn't manage to atleast break into the top then I think coach Stetuel will be in trouble come the end of the season.
