If the Eagles can continue to play like that the season is looking up for sure. Struggled big time once TG55 fouled out, just like in Lithuania, need some more height if Neighbours health isn't looking good.
But overall very promising, you don't deal with players like Morgan every week and Olaseni is just pure class.

If I was an Eagles fan I wouldn't be too upset about the loss; I would just be delighted the team played much better.

One more player gets ill, injured or out of form and they'll struggle. They could do with a shooting guard and another big but they probably don't have any player budget left. Hopefully Neighbour will be fit and back to his old self at some point. An in form Neighbour can cover both of those roles. |

no bbl team except London has the squad depth to handle 3 injuries. Eagles have 10 pros signed, thats as much depth as you need.
and neighbour isn't and never will be a shooting guard.

and the only game they 'havent shown up' was Sheffield (at the end of back to back to back). (they were tied with Leicester with 3mins to go)

I'm not an Eagles fan but I was really looking forward to seeing this squad play this season. It's great to see them playing well. We need to enjoy it whilst it lasts. |

That is by far the most views of any game ever on the British Basketball League YouTube channel. There were a lot of people watching it live on YouTube and going by the live comments there were a lot of people in different countries watching it and betting. It's a good thing it was such a good game. Viewers will tune in again. In the UK it's hard to compete with football and rugby at the weekend. But on Monday nights there's no competition. |

The previous highest was 15,000 on the Sky Sports YouTube channel for the first game of this season, which was Eagles Vs Sharks. I don't know if it's a coincidence they were both Eagles games. I hardly watched Eagles last season, but after they assembled a roster of well known popular players in the summer I have been more likely to watch them this season. |

Eagles led by 14 points with 8 minutes to go But now we have overtime!! With the above numbers you would normally think Eagles choked this Nothing could be further from the truth IMO They did really well with an 8 man squad and Lions really stepped up with 3 point shooting at the end Actually feel gutted for Eagles for first time ever If they play like that this weekend Riders will have problems Just caught the game now and honestly despite the loss I would say I was very proud of the team and the way they played. Apart from missing Neighbour and Spencer we actually looked like the dream team we had signed on paper. Going into this game I honestly thought I'd watch it to the mid 3rd Quarter and then lose interest. But to take the Lions to OT in their house as well. I'm not going to lie the Lions despite the win will probably feel a little embarrassed after that one. If it wasn't for Matt Morgan and Olaseni then they would have crumbled in the 2nd half. But for the Eagles what I feared came true and it was lack of depth and fatigue that buried us tonight. The way that game flowed it was like watching an NBA match given the lack of ant defence from either side since it was just a straight up shoot out. But in crunch time and thanks to Morgan the Lions were able to get out of jail this time. Will things eventually toppled the Lions as although their unbeaten quite a few teams now have pushed them being the Nix, Giants and Eagles. Whatever happens I looked forward to seeing what sort of reception they get next Friday when they come into the Eagles nest. However as for the Eagles I hope they left some of that excellent play in the bank for Riders and Flyers this weekend. Not to tempt fate but if we play like that I wouldn't be suprised if we get 2 wins for 2. Hardlines Newcastle Eagles. |
