been announced as sold out tonight - looking forward to getting home from refereeing a local league fixture and watching this on sky. Hope the arena and fan facilities come across as good on the tv feed as those who have been to the trial events and viewing are saying they are. Fingers crossed no first night nerves and a Gladiators win.

Two broken teams. Not sure home court advantage is going to count for much. I'm going for the upset!

First Sky game this season I'm going to watch Live from home. I'm hoping for a good one and a win for the Scorchers.

Well I didn't know Glads were in their new arena before coverage started but a great game to watch and it looked great on TV.
Strange but an intensely close game which made it more enjoyable as a neutral. To me it was one of those games where it was tight but you could tell Gladiators were in complete control.
I hope Justin Robinson is alright and that injury wasn't serious. I'm starting to think the poor guy is cursed seeing his luck with injuries right now.
Once he went out the game Surrey lost an important piece in their arsenal. Although that one handed shot made by Wang in the 4th Quarter to me is definately play of the season so far as that was awesome.
As for the coverage tonight I liked how much they bigged up the occasion with Glads new arena. The commentator seemed to be trying really hard to push the Gladiator puns and spoke about how much he liked the British Basketball game ball even.
All I can say is credit to Drew Lasker for his interview perseverance. I think it must have been the first time I seen an interview on TV take place on the dark yet as a true professional he kept going.

Two broken teams. Not sure home court advantage is going to count for much. I'm going for the upset! I think you underestimate what this home court has done for the Glads. This morning they were able to go onto their home court and do some practice on the rings they would play on that night. No delays cause venue being set up. In prep for the game they have been able to train on the court they will play on - no hoping emirates put them on the centre court or having to train at the EK Ally McCoist sports centre or at the Glasgow Kelvin hall court. Training on the same court (configured as it will be for game days) is a game changer for the club. I'm also thinking they will be the only team in the britishbasketballleague that this season trains on their game court setup.

Didn't think it was the best game I've seen, lots of mistakes and missed shots, despite the score. The defence could improve for both sides.

Engaging game, both teams played better than I have seen early season. Game night and arena impressive. Ultimately I think Surrey's big run came a little too early for them to snatch a win with Robinson going down. I think Scorchers have got a win in them, they have a death line up with Robinson (fingers crossed just a knock), Lawrence, Hunt & Jamison which can cause big problems, but there seems to be quite a big drop off outside that group. The challenge for Caledonia, in my opinion, is the opposite. They have so many pieces it feels to me like the minutes are a little too shared out and key players are simply not on court for big stretches. I get the benefit of resilience for European competition but it appears to be at the expense of cohesion at present - early days. And can someone please sign Fraser Malcolm. He is wasted at the end of that bench 🙁

He is wasted at the end of that bench 🙁 I agree, after watching their documentary and seeing how difficult it was for them to train without being turfed I can see now why Gladiators went for their own venue and why the League no longer hosts a major final at the Emirates. With Sheffield and Bristol as well also soon to get their own facility. That then means it would be only Plymouth, London and Surrey who don't play in their own arena. As for Fraser Malcolm I think regardless how many minutes he gets he will he staying in Glasgow because of his teaching job which was another thing I learnt about through the documentary. I know he was wrestling whether to return or not because of his other job. Looking at the stats he got 15 minutes so atleast he is getting to play which is a good thing for him. Although I noticed Jonny didn't play last night. Is he injured?
