Got to admit I'm excited but also nervous for this one. I listened to the Drew and Jay podcast and they are right about Ben Thomas being a good coach.
Any team that has beaten Leicester so early in the season will certainly fancy their chances against us. I reckon win or lose tonight it will be close.
Hopefully though the Eagles can make it 3 wins for 3!

Watching the Eagles game on you tube, the commercial breaks are doing my head in 😡

I'm not at the game as I don't want to share my germs. This You Tube feed though is killing me. Who cuts away for an advert when a three point attempt has just left the hand? 🤬 Now the feed insists I watch the Raiders game. Beyond amateur, a bit like the refereeing crew who don't know the difference between a block and a charge.
Now to try and get the feed back.

Got the feed back but wish I hadn't bothered. 21 turnovers...21! Beaten and well beaten, congratulations Phoenix!

Unbeatable, no watchable! And why are we trying to sell this to the US! High school games have got more talent than some of the players in the league this year.

Great win for the Nix tonight, Rai & Jack were both excellent and made the difference, Eagles looked a bit lost / leaderless. Sad to see Larry's beef with the Nix bench, did anyone catch what got him so riled up?
Outside of the win, the main point of note was the coverage which was absolutely dreadful, constant "commercial breaks", endless replays of the same "I'm unbeatable" / "Buy Trophy Final / Playoff tickets" videos and by far and away the worst commentary combination of Azania Stewart and Josh Bett, whose inane ramblings added absolutely nothing to the game. Was gutted when I saw Dan & Ant were commentating on the Manchester game!

Eagles well beaten after a disastrous fourth quarter. Tahj and Neighbour both look like their playing injured. Eagles played poorly to be fair but managed to keep it close, lot of work to be done to get this unit looking cohesive.

Well that was a tough pill to swallow. Firstly congratulations to the Nix, down the stretch they were the better team tonight and we were well beaten. And overall an exciting game between 2 teams.
I can see why the Nix dominated Riders and they were a very big and physical team. I particularly thought Rai was a force to be reckoned with.
As for the Eagles, not a terrible performance but I felt tonight we relied to much on Johnson and Mcgill which was similar to how we were last year with Hamlet most games.
If I was going to blame anyone tonight for that loss I felt Marc let that one go as I think he should have called Timeout sooner towards the end when the game was starting to slip. I also questioned why we didn't bring Neighbour back into the game sooner when we needed a 3 point shooter.
Which brings me to my next rant which is of who exactly is controlling the flow of the game? I was annoyed enough by 1 TV timeout last home match but tonight we had atleast 3 all the while coaches had barely used any? Again they need to cut that out as the TV broadcasting should not be controlling the flow of the game.
The officials overall I thought had a good game and if I'm honest I felt weren't respected enough by either team tonight. Constantly players were trying to rush sub and at one point Austin was tying his shoes and play nearly began to which the female ref told him next time he needs to let them know.
Finally the last suprise was the tempers at the end of the match it is safe to say next time these teams meet it might be personal. I'm not entirely sure what was going on and tbh from what I seen in the first 2 games I think both Austin and Green have a bit of a flare about them to get in the other teams face.
Whilst I wouldn't exactly call the Nix players completely innocent either especially when Defoe started having words with one of them and they were rushed off court at the end of the game to a chorus of boo's. I do think both those guys need to be a little bit careful and keep that heat in check as the last thing I would want is to see them get into any trouble in future games.
Overall for the Eagles gutted to see us lose this one but with losses to be expected over the course of the season atleast. I just hope we can have a good game over in Lithuania and comeback to defeat Riders next week.

'Eagles give up the most unguarded catch and shoots in the BBL so far'.
Interesting stat from Ben Thomas post game, if it's true. Tiny sample size but I'd have thought Riders would have given up more.
Aaryn Rai is good. Did he really not get any BBL offers last season? Ten teams didn't do their homework properly if so.

You can say that again, their was one play as well from Cheshire where a player fell over near the basket and he managed to get the ball to the guy in the corner and bank a 3. That was a cool play. From watching back the final minutes of the game that was definately a jump ball at the end and not a foul. But by that point I think Cheshire deserved the win. The only other thing that bothered me was Neighbour turned the ball over on the final play and he didn't even bother to contest it which led to Johnson fouling out. I know it was most likely game over at that point but he should have ran for it?

Sounds about right to me, Eagles perimeter defense has been pretty woeful in the three games so far. Cheshire could've put Eagles away by more if they'd hit their open shots. Newcastle looked clueless on offense last night, relying on individual talent over team play. Contrast that with the ball movement of Cheshire, Ben appears to have a much more clear plan on offense than Steutel does at this point in the season. Half court offensive sets for Eagles look remarkably similar to last season's garbage that was served up. It certainly isn't playing to the strengths of the players at the moment, I hope there is some kind of plan to improve it. At this early stage I don't feel the guard rotation is right. Austin should be playing ahead of McGill and Mcgill should be back up to Johnson and Austin. When Johnson and McGill are on court at the same time it's a bit 'your turn, my turn'. Trying not to be too critical 3 games in, my fears before the season were confirmed a little last night though. Having said all that, Tajh Green's head obviously wasn't right. If he plays to his normal level, Eagles could be 3-0 at the moment.

'Eagles give up the most unguarded catch and shoots in the BBL so far'. Coach Thomas gives great interview! Exciting game for a neutral but a lot of missed shots. Super impressed with Rai so far and think he is the difference maker for this Nix team - excellent decision maker and works hard under both baskets

Although seeing the next game they play isn't until December and it's away to Nix I doubt this is going to happen any time soon. I'm sure Eagles will be circling that return game on the 17th December with the intention of coming back with a Vegence after that loss.

Sorry can't agree with you on one thing. If anyone rushed off at the end it was most of the home crowd and that didn't include those that had already gone. Nix were certainly on court well after the end over in the corner celebrating a hard fought win in an arena where we haven't had that much success. Quite a quiet crowd despite Howard's attempts to get them "loud and proud" , we certainly outshouted them all game despite that attempt to attach a microphone to that drum ( should attach it to the crowd?) However agree to the exciting game comment, we only won it in the last two minutes, a far better game than being beaten by 25+ by Lions which could be our next result. Hopefully we'll have

One thing you're wrong on though, Cheshire I think have gone on a bit of a winning streak at the Vertu Motors Arena. So just a routine win for your lads in Newcastle.

Yes you're right, in that case just anther routinely in the North East!! It's really good at the moment with the club arranging a coach for almost every away game and making seats available for supporters to travel to the game.
