this is where having squad injury reports and knowing who the officials will be would have a big influence on result prediction

I would say Lions win but unlike last season I'm not 100% sure what they have this year and have been a lot quieter on buzzing their recruitment then last season. I hope the Gladiators thought can pull out an upset.

Looking forward to the first home game of the season tonight. Obviously I’m backing London, although I’m not totally convinced the squad are quite as strong this year as they were last year - on paper at least.
But this should be an interesting game as I suspect – again, on paper at least, that Caledonia are maybe the team that are going to challenge London the most this season. So I’m looking forward to seeing how these two teams match up on the court.

Last weekend had a look on online betting and won a couple of quid (literally it was a couple). It does seems whoever decides the odds has sorted out the top teams this season. Lions were 1/16 to win, don't fancy putting £16 on to win £1 ( Riders 1/11 to win). Back to the Prediction league then!

A cakewalk for £ions. Dekker stating he'll be playing soon.

Watched the game back and stayed with it up until 7 minutes to go in the 4th where I lost interest. Poor night for Gladiators and a brilliant night for London is all I can say.
Didn't realise Dekker was injured until tonight which I'm glad that explains why he ain't playing. Mind you if tonight is anything to go by he certainly doesn't need to rush.
As for Glads losing this game is definately not what you want before having to fly over to Turkey for a European game. But hopefully they will learn from it and come out stronger eventually as it is early days.
Although from what I just seen what I am wondering is which team in the league is going to actual test London this season?

Even though it was a comfortable win for London last night the game disappointed me.
I really though Caledonia were one of the few teams who might still challenge London this season, and for the Q1 it looked like that was to be the case. But from Q2 onwards it was clear London weren't going to find this one difficult. And that's without Sam Dekker and Matt Morgan. So it looks like the only real challenge for London this season will come from Europe, and even as a London fan that's disappointing.
I'm glad the crowd got a little bigger as the game went on (always going to be an issue with Thursday night games), and I spotted a few familiar faces courtside - Evan Turner (former NBA player) was there with Aaron Radin (who I've seen a few times at the Copper Bix) and 777 Partners co-founder Josh Wander.

I fear the BBL could be a dull procession this season

Grantham got MVP. I thought Gabe was the best player. Is there some science behind who gets MVP or is it just someone's opinion?

Gabe was MVP according to the BBL, but Donte Grantham was MVP according to Lions. So clearly there’s no science, or even consistency to it. Personally I think it should be based on players final index scores.

I don't think Gladiators did a whole lot recruitment-wise this summer to clearly separate themselves from the rest of the BBL, never mind get close to pushing Lions. And it seems very unlikely to me that Lions will complete this season without using their full quota of imports so I have to think that at some point, the rich are going to get richer. It should be a one horse race again either way.

Did I imagine this or not…… I’m sure Mark Woods tweeted that the league should now be referred to as “the regular season” thus diluting the fact that there could be a league winner?
