UK Basketball Forum Hall of Fame

For the benefit of our members, a quick post about the plans for the "UK Basketball Forum Hall of Fame".

There will be 3 sections to the hall, coaches, players and Administrators/Officials.

After the initial nominations and votes, taking place now, and the next few weeks, we will hold further votes every year.

Obviously if there is a significant event, we would consider a special induction at that time.

Hope this clarifies thing for our members.

Do they have to be retired like on the nba?

Obviously not for coaches and administrators. Not decided about players yet, I'd favour having to be but open to input from forum members.
This is intended to be something that grows over time, to reflect those who have made the biggest, & most important, contributions to our sport.

For players is it worth increasing the number to say, 5 inductees? As there are more players than coaches and admins?

For the first wave I'd say 6 players, but 3 in the other two categories.

Ok cool and we are talking all of British basketball yeah? Nbl3 to bbl to gb to junior to Welsh and Scottish leagues ?

Thanks for that. I would favour retired only. This one should be interesting, we've seen some quality players over the years. Obviously Bigz is a shoe in.😜😇

Just a thought. If it is covering all UK Basketball would it be too complicated to split the awards. Say BBL, NBL, Scot's, Welsh etc?. This could spread the interest over a longer time frame and be more inclusive for the lower leagues. My interest is BBL so would be unlikely to vote for any other league no matter how deserving and I suspect BBL votes would dominate.

To Clarify


There will be 3 sections to the hall, coaches, players and Administrators/Officials.

Members of this forum will be able to nominate people for entry to the appropriate section of the HOF. 

It would help when nominating someone for inclusion, a brief, explanation supporting their nomination was given.

There will then be a vote to select which nominees are inducted.

I do think if we split it down into that many categories it might dilute the voting even more so not have much impact. I dont know how many votes for Welsh basketball there'd be, for example. That could always come later if we get more people here though.
