I imagine Donar's off court issues are the reason we neglected to mention this sooner. I'm guessing the trip was in doubt until quite recently. Donar have gone through a change of ownership this summer and it was only confirmed the other day that they'd even be allowed to compete in the BNXT league. A STATEMENT went up on the league's website yesterday. Seems pretty inconceivable that they'll have been able to get a competitive roster together under these circumstances so from a basketball standpoint, I suspect this is going to be a bit of a wasted trip. I guess maybe it'll be useful as a 'team bonding exercise' or something. |

Another example of Riders poor PR. Announced with two days notice that they are off to Groningen for a friendly. Would have been nice for some fans to make a weekend of that Where has this trip been announced ? I've not been able to find anything. |

The first I heard about it was on the A4R podcast (first episode this season). |

Welcome to the wonderful world of dodgy logos. Another team with a quite avoidable own goal. You'd think in this day and age that a little consultation with fans would be in order. It'll be interesting to see if the backlash works. If not, will fans vote with their wallets and purses?

I thought we were over the Riders rebrand now. It might have a negative impact on merchandise sales but any fan who decides to stop supporting a team because of a naff logo change deserves a boot up the ass.
Donar are announcing signings left, right and centre now. Nine in the last four days by my count. Announced a couple of Americans today and one of them in particular looks pretty good. Played a couple of seasons with Kimbal at Bucknell and averaged 18 and 6 last season in the Finnish top tier. Some of the Europeans actually look pretty solid too. Given the circumstances I thought we might find ourselves playing something tantamount to an academy side but clearly they're going to be a fair bit stronger than that.
