Wish they'd gone into more detail explaining why it is what it is ...
Biggest thing for me is that it doesn't say Leicester or basketball in any form.
It looks like the cap insignia for a minor league baseball team - except if it were that it would be part of a larger collection of logos that made sense collectively.
Edit: I do think it looks nice though.

It’s not been a good winter for Riders in terms of PR.
I think that’s just compounded it. Very little communication throughout the winter and then this is what they’ve been working on

I mean we all laughed and criticised London Lions new logo when they changed it last season.
After seeing this I now apologise. 🤣

Well I'm not enormously bothered but I do think it's pretty shite. It certainly looks completely dreadful on twitter with all that empty space around it. And can anyone explain to me what some of the quotation from Russell here is supposed to mean...
“What is especially pleasing is the new brand’s versatility, and how it can incorporate everything we are about, from our pathways and community work through to the pros."
Translation please? I don't understand how a fairly goofy looking image of a horses head somehow has this brilliant 'versatility' that previous logos didn't. Personally I prefer the last logo in every way.
The silver lining is that Riders will have plenty of company here. Don't think the Gladiators rebrand has too many admirers. About as bland as it gets really. That spirograph doodle thing 777 created when they took over Lions remains one of the most ugly things ever designed. Eagles' logo is not only a pretty obvious copy of another company's but it also looks dangerously close to something from the Third Reich. Riders certainly won't be the only BBL team sporting a bad/questionable logo design.

Awful logo. We are a basketball team so what has a cross nag got to do with our team? Looks like we are a My Little Pony club. 1967 / basketball / Leicester? I literally prefer every other previous Riders logo to this effort.

I actually quite like it! There's something rather 1998 Detroit Pistons about it (well, the horse bit anyway) Attachments:

Hoopsfix came up with alternative club logos back in 2017, Can you imagine if we ran with this one.

A new Riders logo in the style of that retro Pistons badge could potentially be quite good. What we've come up with looks nothing like that Sam!

Think it is awful and in some ways a bit scary.
I certainly don't want a t shirt etc with that on.
As said before no reference to Leicester or basketball.
Also Russells ridiculous justification goes to confirm what I've thought for a while about the club going too corporate

I didn't say it was as good as that Pistons logo, but it did make me think of it straight away! At least the horse looks like it has an attitude. When I began supporting the Bears in the 90s, they had a teddy bear bouncing a ball for their logo. Yep.

Could be entirely wrong but I've seen other sports clubs remove their name and simplify logos so people start viewing the clothing as something they would buy to wear away from matchdays in normal life. Without it looking too much like sports team branding.
Maybe that's the thinking here.
But like I say I could be wrong as to the intention.
Ie it's supposed to look cooler on clothes whilst still supporting the club/team

Ie this could be the next Lacoste crocodile on your t-shirts Lol
Still would be Riders fans buying it but perhaps buying stuff they would wear to go out in normal life wearing
It then makes more sense as a logo

I don't think that churning out a bunch of overpriced merchandise with that abomination on it is likely to be very profitable for the club. I'm afraid I'm with the overwhelming majority. It needs personalizing. It needs to be made to look like a logo for Leicester Riders as opposed to just a naff piece of clipart. I don't expect the club to do a complete 180 here but given the enormous volume of negative feedback, I think they'd be foolish not to do some fairly immediate improvisation. That crappy logo has drawn more attention this summer than all of our signings combined.

Another example of Riders poor PR. Announced with two days notice that they are off to Groningen for a friendly. Would have been nice for some fans to make a weekend of that
