2-time league MVP Justin Robinson.
Bloody hell, I mean I know it’s not 2019 anymore but this is a big step up for us, isn’t it?

If he stays fit it’s a great signing

Excellent signing for Surrey and it would be great if he can make a comeback with the Scorchers.

A great signing if he can get back to even 75% of his former self but you would have thought they'd learned their lesson in that respect with Andrew Lawrence?

Padiet Wang back for another year.
Huge for Scorchers to resign their player of the year.

Padiet Wang back for another year. Huge for Scorchers to resign their player of the year. I agree, he was a great player for Surrey last year. It's good to see Surrey are retaining him and I hope they continue to build this season.

I loved watching Wang because he brought a wholly different set of skills and he smiled through the game which was brilliant. Glad they've retained him.

6' 9" and playing on a national team? That's got to be another strong addition compared to last year's squad, surely.

The last New Zealender to play BBL (correct me if I'm wrong) was named on an all tournament Worlds team with Peja, Dirk, Yao Ming and Ginobli. If he has half that pedigree....

BJ Anthony?
Can't think of too much overlap between the BBL and the NZ NBL but when Scorchers released Neighbour from his contract years ago so he could pursue a career changing, once in a lifetime opportunity elsewhere that was the league he moved to. He put up much the same sort of numbers there that we've become accustomed to seeing from him here. The not too fondly remembered Daryl Corletto also put up similar numbers in both leagues. Based on that extensive sample size I'm concluding that the two leagues are of a similar standard. Hunt has clearly established himself as a good performer in New Zealand. Played briefly in the Australian top tier and didn't cut it but that's a much better level. Scorchers have surely signed worse players on paper over the years.

Andrew Lawrence confirmed back as well.
Those first couple weeks where both he and Robinson are fit at the same time are going to be great.
Edit: In fact, between Tayo, Robinson, Lawrence, Josh Steel and Saiquan Jamison, we have another real shot and winning the most games missed through injury trophy this year (again).

Even if we ignore the persistent injury problems, Lawrence seems a bit surplus to requirements to me. Scorchers were already looking pretty well set at the guard/wing spots. What they need is a couple more bigs.

Glad to have Drew back, his the type of player you need around, not just on the court, Cool head in the dressing room, someone to speak with the officials without getting a T.
