...Bennett Koch for a fifth season! Good pick up if he now qualifies as non-permit and particularly if he's worked on his stamina - need 25+ mins from him every game.

I honestly don’t rate him at all, If he is still a import players then it’s definitely a waste of a permit.

To be fair he did have a few decent performances last year, much to the surprise of most of the BBL world.

Ratinho also returning. Been a key player in the Sharks system over last couple of years and one I really rate, but I'd like to see a return to the offensive impact he made in his first season. For that to happen he needs to put up more shots.

Not good news for Sheffield on Twitter this morning.
BBLDaily · 38m Rodney Glasgow Jr will undergo surgery for an Achilles injury sustained during the off-season.
The Sheffield Sharks club captain will be out for the foreseeable future.

Adekoya! Great non-work permit pick up, always torched us and we should be able to offer him more minutes than a congested Riders front court. Hope we're also bringing in some athleticism to complement him & Koch.

Pipkins returns. Listed as a guard in the press release, so hope we have the depth and additional size for him to focus on that combo guard role where he is most explosive.

Ramsey re-signed (no comments about lazy recruitment please!). As it seems Nelson is not returning, then Ramsey needs to step up to the challenge this season to make his teammates better. If he can add a bit of control to his decision making and become more of a distributor alongside his defence then he can be dangerous. Sharks need some size and athleticism at the wing spot to round out the roster now. Interesting to see if Kipper returns. Sharks are definitely a known quantity and should start the season coherently. How they stack up against all the new talent coming into the league? Only time will tell.

RJ Eytle Rock in for the Sharks! Super excited for this signing and hoping his success at college translates to the BBL. He is the sort of young British talent that I'd like to see us building our future on.

He is the sort of young British talent that I'd like to see us building our future on. If he has a good season he'll be long gone and if he's super mediocre he'll probably keep coming back year after year, it's the Sharks way. But seriously, a very interesting signing. The hype around him has died down a bit after a not so good senior year but definitely an exciting signing and a good fit for him given he'll get minutes.

Especially for Riders Fans, Sharks have gone with their 7th import, SG Parker Stewart 👀😂. Has scored the ball throughout his college career including from long range. With a bit of size looks like a good addition to Sharks who overall look a lot more balanced on paper this season.

Why does the BBL continue to allow the Sharks organisation to break the rules on the number of permitted import players allowed on their roster? It’s a disgrace.

I imagine they don’t….
I expect there’s some info about one of the players assumed to be an import that we’re not privy to.
I doubt there’s some pro Sharks conspiracy at BBL HQ.

From what I gather Jordan Ratinho has a Portuguese passport and has a right to work in the UK as an EU citizen who was working in the UK prior to Brexit. I'm surprised it's still allowed given that the BBL import rules have now changed. It does seem very much like the league bending the rules although I'm sure it's to avoid a potentially complicated legal challenge and not something deliberately pro Sharks

He does have a Portuguese passport, but was never "settled" in The UK before Brexit.

Or, what’s infinitely more likely, you/we misunderstand a situation with a player and their import or non import status?

The deadline for most people to apply for pre-settled or settled status through the EU Settlement Scheme was 30 June 2021. You might still be able to apply if you’re in one of these situations: -you started living in the UK by 31 December 2020 and you need to make a late application -your family member has pre-settled or settled status and you want to join them in the UK -you have a valid biometric residence permit or visa

Regardless of all this speculation of the imports etc, i think Sharks seem to have made some decent signings. A couple of versatile British big men are always welcome.
Hopefully the wings are athletic, Pipkins certainly is. No idea about Allen.
Main thing about this season is filling that new arena. Sharks fans have banged on about it for years but Sharks game day needs a serious overhaul if we wana make the experience an appealing one to new fans/kids/teenagers
Less of a 90s kids birthday party and more of a 2020s (and although I hate it, it’s popular) TikTok vibe.
Went to see Riders at home last year and it was really loud and exciting and fun. Sharks NEED this to make the arena worthwhile and a success, alongside a winning team.
