The British Basketball League can confirm that Vince Macaulay and Nigel Lloyd will depart the Manchester Giants.
The League would like to place on record its thanks to both Vince and Nigel for their positive contribution to Manchester Giants and the British Basketball League. Last season saw the Giants reached the post-season Play-offs after a sixth placed finish in the Championship standings.
Everyone associated with the League wishes them well for their future endeavours.
Vince Macaulay has been relieved of his duties as head coach / GM of Manchester Giants. Seemed inevitable after club’s takeover by BBL / 777, may mean end of the line for one of British basketball’s great showmen.

Or he may get an offer from another team, even if not straight away, down the line. It is a shame that 777 don't seem to want someone with his experience and knowledge around. I remember watching him play for the Hemel and Watford Royals in the 90s, that's how far back he goes! Actually he goes back even further but that's how far back I can go!

It is ashame although if they wanted him out at London and took over Manchester I suppose it doesn't suprise me. And to be honest looking at the talent Giants had this season I expected them to finish higher in the table. Whether he retires now is up to him, I think knowing Vince it is unlikely he will be able to step away from British Basketball and will find probably find some way to stay involved in the league. Although if he goes to another club I'm sure he's going to be praying 777 don't look to take over that club as well. There is also a vacant GB head coaching position as well which I wonder if he will throw his hat in the ring for?

Strange. I can well imagine Vince won't take any crap and there was probably some sort of disagreement, otherwise why would they get rid of him. And why announce it now instead of at the end of the season if it was always the plan that Vince was going after steadying the ship.

Just saying Vince, you’d be welcome at Surrey …

odds for Giants new coach to be Krumesh Patel ? announced today that left WBBL Riders and I see Levenston tweet be hard to see him on another teams bench. Not sure he would step away from Riders for another WBBL - but a BBL perhaps?

If the new Giants GM is more basketball technical than commercial then they could take a risk with a more inexperienced coach as recruiting etc could be taken off them.
Would like to see some of the up and coming coaches given a chance (and time!)

Nothing announced but GM's are either technical experts who do all the recruiting etc much like the NBA, or they have more of a business background and leave the basaketball to the Head Coach and they look after commercial / commercial / administration, so the HC appointment will be biased depending on what the GM's expertise are

Closing date for the GM job was a bit ago, obviously a difficult choice with a number of applicants.
