Hi guys after Fletcher announced his retirement the other day I started to think about how come the Eagles haven't done another hall of fame induction since my first season as a fan back in 2011/2012.
I know it's traditionally an American thing to do. But now that some clubs have there own venues like the Eagles, Riders, Cheshire and with some clubs soon looking to build one.
What would people's thoughts be on Jersey retirement?

I'm not sure I really care all that much TBH.. Given the standard set by the current two Eagles Hall of Famers (TJ Walker and Lynard Stewart) there's so many players from the later years worthy of having their numbers retired (including Fletch) it almost becomes slightly meaningless. I've always suspected the Eagles are waiting for Darius to retire and retire a few number/raise jerseys together.

Always hated the retiring numbers thing. Seems daft to me, what happens in another 50 years when there are no numbers left to choose. Have a hall of fame, hang the jersey or a banner and be done with it.

Agree for bbl as they don't seem to use high numbers usually. NBA has 00 up to 99 so even the Lakers with so many retired, aren't going to run out. I liked the entire league retiring Bill Russell 6 as well, it's classy.

Think the only number that Jets/Nix have retired was the number worn by Dave Gardner who was at the recent play off games supporting a new generation.

Brighton retired Wilbur Johnson and Mike Brown back in the day. Don't think we'd done it previously - as said, we'd have run out of numbers when you think of all the great Bears players who would have been retired - Cunningham and Irish, Steve Nelson, Cleave Lewis, Herman Harried, maybe Gary Smith, along with a few others. That's just from the Worthing era!

Not a fan of number retirement but surprised that Charles Smith (10) and Fab's (20) were not. Both shoe ins for Hall of Fame though. I sometimes see Paul Blake when I take my grandson to training. I'll try to remember and ask him.
