I wonder where that leaves Fab. I saw a list of top 6 coaches likely to replace Nurse but Fab not surprisingly wasn't on the list. As much as the Eagles faithful worship Fab and we would love it to happen. I imagine it would be a good couple of years and more ladder work before he is given the chance to lead a NBA franchise. I think for him now, keeping his job and staying in the NBA would be enough. |

Well I don't think replacing him as head coach is on the cards but whether he will stay in the job could be. Just like in any job when leadership changes you expect a few more changes and for Toronto Raptors to view what else they need to change in order to atleast qualify for the playoffs next season. Although if he has done a good job in their eyes then hopefully Fab won't have anything to worry about. I mean eventhough Ian Macleod left us we still kept Gary Stronach under Marc Steutel. However I imagine both now and once whoever replaces Nurse is confirmed. I'm sure Fab will be at least thinking about his options as a precaution. |

It's quite common for the new head coach to replace the assistants but now he's had experience it should be easier for him to get another assistant job elsewhere if necessary.
Shame about Nick, but sounded like he was already thinking about it. They could have had a chat and allowed him to stand down by mutual agreement rather than firing him, after 10 years service and a championship. Wonder if we'll see him again in the NBA.

There will be other NBA jobs opening this summer, I'd think it wuld be Nick's decision if he want to take another coaching role, or if he accepts one of the many media offers he's likely to get, which will give a less stressful lifestyle.
As for Fab, there are always assistant coach, or smaller college coaching roles open. It's unlikely he'll be offered a higher level NBA assistant role though.

Wilbon spoke very highly of Nurse on PTI and reckons he'll get another head coaching role easily, if he wants it. We'll see, be interesting if he does! I don't think it's him that needs replacing in Toronto though - their roster has been getting slowly worse since they lost Leonard then Lowry. Not much a coach can do if his roster becomes less talented. I thought they still had a reasonable season considering. Trouble is the vacancies that come up this summer are likely to be on crap teams, so he won't be inheriting a decent team this time!

For anyone not keeping score, you may be interested to know Nurse is into the final 3 candidates for the unexpected head coaching gig with the Bucks. That would really be a coup for him if he can land that. The other 2 are Kenny Atkinson who has a poor head coaching record and withdrew from an offer to be Charlotte's HC last year after having initially agreed to it, suggesting he's unreliable, and Adrian Griffin who was actually one of Nurse's assistants and has never been a HC. So on paper you'd think he's favourite to get the job but who knows! If not it sounds like he is in great demand so he'll end up somewhere else, but it would be awesome to see him walk straight on to a championship contender like the Bucks and see if he can lead them to another one.

Hes also in the last 4 for the Suns job too, another great opportunity if he gets it, coaching Kevin Durant. Apparently he also interviewed with the 76ers but doesn't sound like he's advanced with them.

Well, the Bucks went with Griffin - bit of a surprise but we'll have to see where Nick ends up now. Would like to see him go to the Suns!

Wow, and there was me saying he hadn't advanced with them! There was just no mention of it apart from that he'd had an interview, it didn't sound like the sixers were interested.
Well now that is an interesting opportunity - obviously coaching the reigning MVP in Embiid, but all the other talent on the team too. I'm not a big fan of the Sixers ever since their tanking strategy which got them Embiid in the first place, but I obviously wish Nick well in his 2nd head coaching gig at this level. To walk on to a contending team must be every coach's dream.
