Great bit of publicity for the league. "I JUST WANT TO DO MY PART AS A ROLE MODEL TO ALL THE YOUNG HOOPERS IN LONDON AND ACROSS THE ENTIRE UK" Play for the national team then 😂

I didn’t even realise he identifies as British. I know he was born in London. It will be great to see him at the Copper Box. It’s a nice opportunity for him to connect with his home city.

He's 25 years old, born in London to Nigerian parents, and has lived in the US since he was 4 years old. If that were me I'm not sure I'd identify as British, but anyway... This is big news, not only for the investment and publicity, but who knows what else this might lead to across the BBL... maybe some other high profile basketball (or other sports personalities) investing in the BBL and it's teams? The likes of LeBron have already invested in british football, and retired NBA players like Luol Deng and Grant Hill have invested in the african league, so there's certainly some very interesting possibilities... I also like how Toronto Raptors are increasingly becoming the BBL's unofficially affiliated team in the NBA.

It’s funny you say that LT, deng lived in England for 4 years too but he’s classed as British, so Han lived in England 90% of his life and is classed as polish

There's a good article with him in the Lions magazine Baseline (page 20) www.thelondonlions.com/baseline/issue-001

There does seem to be a very strong link between the BBL and Canada, with quite a few Canadians in the BBL.

I didn't know that. Maybe the fact I can see his high school basketball court from my office window every day has made me think otherwise!

show me the money - and then will decide if this is huge, or if it is just like an ambassador role
edit to add: it is big though to have such an ambassador and another person of standing promoting what is happening.

Yeah I think the question is how big, or small, is his stake? You know who would be good for investing now - Nick Nurse! He's got the money now and obviously the history here. He might be stepping down from the Raptors as head coach this summer so if he does, no doubt he'll be looking for new opportunities. Just don't let him run the team or control the finances!

I’m surprised to see comments regarding how important it is how much money he’s investing and what % ownership he’ll have… yes those things are important but equally so is having an NBA star involved in the BBL. There’s a solid argument to be made that this kind of endorsement is more important than any actual money being put in. It’s an extreme example, but would anyone on here actually turn down LeBron James investing just $100 of his money for just a 1% ownership stake in your team? I don’t think so.

There is a new London Lions video on social media of OG in London talking. One thing he says is he wants London Lions to play in Euroleague. He clearly has a lot of ambition for London Lions.

This is obviously good news for London and it certainly shows 777 plan of growing the league through London is working.
Although given the Lions success this season I would have preferred it if he invested to a team that needed the money more right now like Manchester or Surrey.
Question is now if your trying to get a link between the BBL and NBA how much will the Lions plug this? Will they start saying London Lions sponsored by an NBA pro?
Will he start sharing the love for the Lions on his socials whilst continuing his career within the NBA and possibly look to play for the team in the latter stages of his career?
Either way it looks good to be a Lions fan right now.

Rocks had a couple, Andrew Wedemire & Jamie Vanderbeken, the latter qualifies for GB on account of his Scottish mother, never played, he got injured on his first day of camp. He is a very tall guy in person, compared to me, I'm about 5 ft 8

Not just Canada in general, but specifically the Toronto Raptors - Nick Nurse, Fab Flournoy, and now OG Anunoby. Raptors are basically the BBL's NBA affiliate at this stage!
