Wow, I don't tend to follow the NBA as much until this time of year when it's playoff season.
Although this is quite an extortionate penalty for the Mavericks.

I remember someone being unhappy about Lions for intentionally fielding a weakened team in the BBL Trophy against Gladiators.
Imagine if in doing that this was the penalty $750,000.

As a Thunder fan it was great, made qualifying for the play in easier! I see now what they were trying to do, as a pick outside the top 10 would go to new York, but surely you'd still rather go to the play in? A 10th pick in the draft isn't that great. Ok they have about a 1% chance of getting top pick but that's a real long shot.

They have tanked before which is why the fine is so high.
