Recently a fan suggested in the pats secret club that 100 of them should chip in 10k each for the club. If you do the math it works out to the new franchise fee.
Love that someone is that passionate about their club, we need more of that but it gad me wondering.
How much could/would you give to your club. Not if you won the lottery or anything but in real terms now

Honestly as much as I love my club, with this cost of living crisis and other expenses I don't think I would have much finances to spare for my club. I would probably donate £50 max but usually tend to give only £10 whenever a mate is doing anything for charity.
I think if I owned a business especially a local business I would probably invest more but I probably wouldn't be able to invest much.
The other day I was thinking about starting a thread on fan loyalty as whilst we talk alot about the current successful teams. I do wonder what keeps fans loyal at teams like Patriots and Surrey who have had quite a few struggles over the years but the fans keep on going.

The venue, entertaining basketball whoever wins, the crowd, and the social aspect. Surrey fans and Plymouth fans always seem to be enjoying themselves. This is why I think it will be a disaster if Plymouth get kicked out of Pavilions, unless they get a venue as nice as Surrey Sports Park.

I think people stick at those clubs because of things that aren’t basketball. It’s an experience rather than sporting event

I can think of more fun ways to waste money to be honest. In that sense happy to be a supporter and buy my season tickets and jersey but contributing financially is something I know I couldn't make an impact with. It's a completely ridiculous proposition. Then what exactly once you've bought the franchise licence? You live hand to mouth week to week using whatever their proportion of gate receipts and secondary spend (after paying the venue) is to pay the players? Would they even be able to survive with this model now without 777 helping foot the bill? Lions and Glads have moved the goalpost now and going forward all teams will struggle if either someone/something isn't pumping their personal wealth into the club. We may see teams having the odd good season if they've managed to recruit really well (Bristol this year) but the days of non very rich people owning BBL clubs is over.

I purchase tickets, get friends to purchase tickets who otherwise wouldn't have, I purchase merchandise, I even contributed finically to my local WBBL team during the pandemic... but I don't like the idea of only measuring how passionate someone is about their team by how much they contribute financially. Over the years I've witnessed so many volunteers throughout the BBL give so much of their time, that has to be another measurement of how passionate someone is.

Gladiators POTENTIALLY have moved the goalposts, nothing is built yet. Bristol have announced a new arena several years ago, from my limited knowledge I think its practically got there. Goal.post moving takes a long, long, time!!

When Guildford Heat were going through a bad time they offered shares. I bought £100 worth. You got no discount on tickets. I knew I would not get the money back. They went bust shortly afterwards

I have no problem with pumping a lot of money in to Eagles every season by purchasing stuff like: - 2 season tickets - Additional tickets for family/friends to numerous games through out the season. - Jersey for my son - Food and drinks on game nights - Car park season ticket - My son's junior club fees - CVL fees for my son - Food and drink when attending CVL games at the arena. - The odd WBBL game when time allows
There are probably a few other things I've forgotten about as well. I'm in the planning stages of starting my own business in the hopefully not too distant future, I'll hopefully try and get involved with some sponsorship either through the (preferably) foundation or pro club.
Ultimately BBL teams are businesses and donating money makes me a bit uneasy. I'd much rather see my club create sustainable revenue streams like the above. If a team isn't doing that, they don't really deserve to be propped up by well meaning fans, as much as I admire their love for their club.

Gladiators POTENTIALLY have moved the goalposts, nothing is built yet. Bristol have announced a new arena several years ago, from my limited knowledge I think its practically got there. Goal.post moving takes a long, long, time!! actually not totally true there is some existing buildings involved - the clubs admin has already moved to Playsports in East Kilbride and subject to no delays in the fitout they will leave emirates sports hall at end of this season as the building for the temporary venue is already there and its prior use has already been gutted and internal work is underway (passed it today on way to my own game and looks like external work may also be underway). So from 2023-24 season Gladiators will not be paying Glasgow Life for game day venue hire, they will be collecting for themselves secondary spend of food and drink and will be able to choose their fixture dates without considering what else on happening within the emirates or neighbouring Celtic park. That's not the main short term goalposts move by them - the interviews I've heard with the owner imply the player budget that G will have is beyond anything in the recent franchise past. Time will tell. There are other things in the background as well - JB had a part time post with a SBC club as it s development officer. He has resigned from that this year and now has a community role at Gladiators as well as his player role. I do give you the new arena is a POTENTIALLY moved the goalposts as we are still to see the details and the dates for it. First thing they need to do is get the old crowds of Emirates sports hall into the new court at EK Playsports then build on that.
