Saw an interesting debate on twitter about why Leicester do so poorly selling out their venue with all their success and london coming to town.
Also saw they charge £21 a ticket!
What's everyone's thoughts about why they cant fill the arena?

£21 seems steep especially if they put the price up for London, but that's silly if they're not attracting a full house at normal prices. Supply and demand only works when there's the demand! Or do they always charge £21? In which case that's your answer right there.

£21! I didn't think anyone apart from London would do such a thing. At the Eagles I think we practically give away tickets at the moment. I reckon the only reason the last 2 home matches have been sell outs was due to the half time Hoops 4 Health tournaments attracting a lot of kids and parents.

Not sure exactly as I'm a season ticket holder, but tickets to an Eagles game are between £10-£15 depending on where you sit. Most games are a sellout and that's always down to the hard work the club puts in to either Hoops 4 Health or attracting kids and their families from their community clubs. This is ultimately the reality for basketball in this country at the moment. You can't just put a game on and expect people to turn up. It's really hard to get people to come and pay for a basketball game. We're a long way from massive devoted fanbases like football, and may never get there.

Eagles certainly don’t give away tickets. Hoops 4 health kids who play are free but all adults who attend pay. There have actually been less group sales this year because the cheaper rate reduces potential revenue and the demand has been greater.
But with 1900 youth players registered with the clubs run by the eagles that’s how the audience is built.

Charging over £10 to watch basketball in this country is ridiculous, especially considering the standard of the league. I mean you wouldn't mind paying that to see a Euroleague game where there is quality littered throughout.
My Scottish football team charges £22 and they're in the 2nd tier, playing in a 6k, 3 stand stadium but you'd be lucky to get 2k fans in. Usually we get 6k if Celtic or Rangers visit but it's under 2k most of the time, the quality at games for the price is very poor and that's why I gave up my season ticket a few years ago.

I'm going to watch Milos Teodosic's Virtus Bologna play in Berlin on Thursday night - cheapest tickets are €14.50. The Mercedes Benz arena is amazing for basketball.

Always charge £21 i think, absolute madness £21, who do they think they are, London? I’m (partly) joking, I know London pricing is different to everywhere else in the country, basketball or not. I was in Manchester a few years ago and couldn’t believe how cheap the drinks and food were in Wetherspoons.

Newcastle certainly aren’t giving away tickets, save to the kids competing in the Hoops 4 Health tournaments. And as someone else said fewer cut-price groups this year. They are filling the arena by working bloody hard on sales and relationships and, somewhat to my surprise, that’s continuing to work despite results having been poor on the court. Ticket prices typically £10 to £15, but with an increasing number of repeat corporate package sales at higher prices. Hopefully this will provide the budget for a better on-court product soon - think of Arsenal after they moved into the Emirates and look at them now. Fingers crossed etc.

I live in Tenerife. The cheapest ticket for the next league match is €13. The next European match is €8.
The most expensive seats for the league match are €25.
IMO the Leicester prices feel high. Don't think I would pay that regularly in the UK.
Just waiting on availability for the Barcelona match next month 🤞

Where are the Riders fans to comment on this?
Could IRF or Massiveriders confirm these prices and possibly defend their club for charging so high?

Just been on the Eagles & Riders web sites to look at advertised prices for the upcoming two games next weekend......
RIDERS:- Adult £21 Concession £18.50 U16 £8.50
EAGLES:- Adult £22 Concession £16:00 U16 £14:00
An adult + 2 U16 would pay £50 at Eagles but only £38 at the Riders !
Where are the Eagles fans to comment on this?
Could stevetino or baldeagle confirm these prices and possibly defend their club for charging so high?

There's a discount code every week if you get the Eagles newsletter or follow any of their socials that takes it down to adults £10 behind the nets and £15 side view. I've absolutely no idea why Eagles do this, been this way forever. Assume it's because they really want to subscribe to the newsletter for whatever reason.

Probably the same for Leicester fans if you subscribe to their newsletter?
I think £15 is a fair price for an adult

Honestly with how much they charge for season tickets they couldn’t go below £20 without charging season ticket holders more per game than those paying game by game.

Partick Thistle fan? nah - they have a 10k capacity ground 3 stands and 6k capacity sounds ,more like Hamilton Accies - though be lucky to get 1.5k would be truer for them

the logic of a discount code is to build the database of interested customers which allows for chap, targeted marketing. if you know who is coming in and how to contact them its easier to get them to come back. all ECF members also can by tickets with a discount code linked to their club.
