Nets win from being 28 down. Stephen A’s rant is precious. Seth Curry and Drummond definitely improve the Nets. Just feel Simmons will come back strong. NYC change their ruling and KD comes back fit I wouldn’t bet against them.

Stephen A is great, his schtick never changes, he's been doing it 25 years maybe now. There seem to be a lot of big leads blown this season, it's a bit weird. The Knicks are reaching the stage where you wonder if the impossible might become probably - Thibs getting fired? Is this just the Knicks curse that says they can only have 1 decent season at a time then have to suck again for a few more years?

Only just read about the format for the rising stars game tonight. 4 teams, 2 semis first team to 50 wins. Final is first to 75.
Love that, might actually inspire some defense to be played by these guys!
All star Friday has received barely any coverage to the point I didn't know if it was even happening, and had to search quite hard to find an article about the format. ESPN got nothing!
There's the celebrity game too but that's utter, utter tosh and not a single soul gives a crap about it. I don't know why it's kept in.

And indeed, that was good - both semi finals going down to 'next basket wins' and loads of drama - plus a bit of D in the final minutes! The final was close too, but come on Wagner, you gotta shoot that free throw underarm to win the final, being on Team Barry!

Has the all star game ever been competitive?

There have been some close finishes if that's what you mean. In terms of guys playing defense? It's improved a bit since going to the elected teams and winning money for the charities. I was thinking about this while watching it - people say they don't defend much or make an effort, but do we actually want that? We wouldn't get lots of the dunks and highlights we get if they did that. Isn't it better to just see what these guys can do when given the freedom to do so?
So I don't mind how it's played at the moment, it's been better since the format changed for sure.

The 75 at 75 was great, shame more of them couldn't have been there and dad that so many have already passed away. But great to see those who were there, MJ introduced last of course! Let's be honest though, the jackets have nothing on the 50 at 50 jackets!

I’d rather see a proper game in regular season. I watched the all star game for the first time last year. I didn’t bother this year. You’d still see loads of highlights with the players on show. You may as well watch a training session IMO. I thought the rising star game was taken less seriously than last year.

There was no rising stars last year though? I thought it was a good format but each to their own. All star isn't for everyone but once a year I'm happy to watch it knowing what to expect.
I see ESPN ranked the 75 players. Top 5 was $, LeBron, Kareem, Magic and Wilt. Hard to argue with that. I was also pleased to see Duncan get recognition at 8 and ahead of Kobe. Having spent 20 years arguing Duncan was the better of those 2 it was nice to see a rare example of someone agreeing with me!🤣

As much as I like and admire Lebron I question whether Lakers will regret his acquisition despite winning a championship in the bubble. Is it 1 or 2 years left on his contract? Whatever he will probably continue to miss games through injury. Personally think he’s been outstanding and would have been in the MVP mix if he’d played more games. On his bequest Lakers have traded their future for a number of years to acquire AD and Russ. AD’s reliability through injury is dubious at best and Russ I hate to admit just didn’t fit and he’s shown no longer an elite guard. What have they got left in assets? Tucker hadn’t been great. For me Reeves has been a bright spot along with Carmelo. It’s rebuild time for Lakers. However is there next first round pick 2007? With Russ and AD on max contracts there won’t be a whole lot of financial wriggle room.

Talk on PTI today that the Lakers should trade LeBron to Cleveland - he's going there anyway soon enough and they need to get assets and get younger ASAP. Also Rob Pelinka might be out before LeBron if this carries on, so why not deal him in the summer? I'd like to see that.
If LeBron can go 3 more years I see him doing at least 1 year in Cleveland and then Sacramento or whichever bottom feeder drafts Bronny in 2024. But by that point he'll be 40 and you have to fancy old father time catching up with even LeBron by that point!

He'll have a no trade clause surely

Apparently not, Wilbon said he could be traded whether he likes it or not. It would make sense for him anyway though. I can't see him wanting to stay a Laker next year after this hot mess.

If LeBron hadn't meddled and asked for the Lakers to chase Westbrook they'd still be in good shape. It's crazy that they could still have Kuzma, KCP and Caruso on that team if they hadn't gone ahead with that dumb trade.
To see LeBron then throwing heat at the Lakers front office is pretty rich even for him. Despite how bad they've been this year, they'd still be dangerous on the playoffs if (huge if I know)they can get AD back fit. What LeBron is doing at his age on the court is quite ridiculous, still a top 5 player in the league when he brings it.

Lebron will stay in LA to continue to build his acting resume and contacts. Basketball doesn't come into it really.
I'm a huge fan boy but I know his championship days are probably over, that's not a bad thing at all especially at season 19. Needs to go to a bad team and chase scoring for another title

Interesting thought that, about the acting and stuff - is he set on doing more of that though? He has loads of business interests already. He has said he'll go wherever he has to to play with Bronny for a year, so the talk is whether or not lottery teams would draft Bronny higher than he might otherwise go, just to land LeBron into the deal. I think teams like Detroit, Orlando, OKC definitely do that. This is MJ coming back to play for the Wizards - not going to help them win a title aged 40 but will sell a lot of tickets and create interest. I struggle with the idea of LeBron finishing his career at some random team he has no affiliation with though, just because they happen to draft his boy. I'd prefer to see him go out in Cleveland! His choice I guess though.

I remember hin stating that's why he went to LA in the first place, sees his career in films after basketball.
I agree it'll be weird seeing him at some random team to finish but getting to play alongside bronny must be amazing for him. At current standings he's a 2nd rounder but I thibk he'd go top 15 just to get lebron. The shirt sales alone would be worth it

It would be hilarious if a day before the season begun, that team sent Bronny off to the G-league 🤣
