This seems strange, especially a few days after he was forced to sit out a game for violating team rules

This is strange and sad. I don’t feel like I can trust London Lions coms. It always feels like there’s more to it than is being shared.

I think his ill discipline is the real reason he's been cut. He didn't seem to buy in like everyone else did. Fantastic for the bbl but not a fantastic fit for lions it seemed

TBF
That's a pretty positive sounding leaving message compared to the vast majority you see in BBL

I take it from that he's still under contract but not playing. If he's injured but still under contract until the end of the season why say anything at all? What did he do to get suspended if he's not training due to injury? Then the gushy statement saying how wonderful he is. All very strange TBH.

Looks like damage limitation. Plymouth tried the back slapping stuff a few weeks ago with a departing player and that player has since gone to war with them on twitter. Moral of the story is when a club does that, often it's to keep a lid on something.

There’s certainly more to Soko’s exit than we’re being told. But I’m not sure we can criticise London for that too much, this happens all the time in sport.
I’d love to know why London suspended him for a game, I suspect that would go a long way to explaining his exit.
Despite being a very talented, British, player I hated him when he joined London the first time. He showed total disrespect to Vince, the team and the organisation. When he joined again this season I was sceptical, but he convinced me he’d changed, maybe it was because this time round the organisation was more aligned to the standards he expects (big budget, big talent, European aspirations etc.) but it felt like he was taking it more seriously than last time. Unfortunately it’s looking like I was wrong, and he’s disappointed me yet again.
I think the big difference between his last exit and this exit is that back then London needed Soko more than Soko needed London. This time Soko needed London more than London needed Soko.

Get used to it, it's just how American owned businesses operate. And let's be honest with zero wider media scrutiny (with British basketball being comparatively tiny) they'll keep doing it.

It’s say it’s bigger than that, it happens across all sports regardless of country. In fact it happens elsewhere too… how many times has the public been told a politician or senior company employee has left to ‘spend more time with their family’. The level of media scrutiny is a very good point though. You’re more likely to get away with such PR puff and the real truth never coming to light if there’s no media scrutiny to dig deeper into the story.

On Instagram there are photos of last night’s game including some fans courtside. Uploaded separately there are some old photos of Ovie sitting courtside with Jordan Williams.

So maybe the statement from Lions is more truthful than we’re giving them credit for. Even if it’s amicable, it’s an odd move.
