What are your thoughts about VIP/Hospitality tickets for Basketball events? For example, these Harlem Globetrotters packages: Harlem Globetrotters Bench Experience Harlem Globetrotters team bench - includes access to the Magic Pass event to join the team on the players bench for the whole game (limited availability) Private backstage access to meet and greet with the players, take photos and get autographs (camera/photographer not supplied) Entry to the Magic Pass 30 Minute pre-show event with Harlem Globetrotters members - shoot, pass and dribble on court! Tour programme Designated checkin with our on-site event staff Hospitality Suite (Buy in 12s) Private entrance to the venue Superstar Hospitality Experience Lanyard 12 Tickets Arrival Drink Option to pre-order prior to the show a delicious selection of food and variety of premium drinks (minimum of 10 days prior) Hospitality host En-suite toilet facilities Private bar facilities Reserved car parking space is available upon request I would be interested to hear what you think in the forum thread. Have you purchased these type of packages and did you think they were worth the money? I am currently undertaking PhD research at Aberystwyth University Business School and would be grateful if you could please take the time to complete an online survey based on these types of ticket packages. You need to add the prices so people can judge the value/appeal or not?

Permission to post this has been granted by moderators Hi Joni89 Welcome to the UK’s No1 Basketball forum. Personally these type of vip meet & greet type of events are not really my cup of tea, I’m an out and out buy a ticket, support my team, hurl abuse at the opposition and refs if needed, Watch the game and go home. Now I can understand that if someone is a fanatic then yes it’s an absolutely fantastic chance to meet your heroes. I call myself a Riders diehard and have been for the past 37 - 38 years and have hardly missed a home game in all that time. But I wouldn’t part with my cash for this type of opportunity.

My opinion on the bench experience is that it is too much - it would have to be very limited availability, like 1 or 2 people max probably and I am not sure if the team would want to have to 'babysit' someone literally for the entire evening. I also don't think fans should be sitting on the bench or shooting on the court. So I'd reduce that to a VIP type experience where fans can meet some (not all) of the players before the game and take photos, get autographs, etc. I think that aspect would be good and you could have a higher number of fans doing that. It could also be combined with the Hospitality offerings.
I haven't purchased anything like that for basketball before but I don't think it's usually offered. I did once get a VIP ticket for the Masters Snooker at Ally Pally. It included access to a VIP room beforehand where you could play on a championship standard table, take photos with the trophy and have a nice meal/champagne. We got a visit from Rob Walker (the MC) and front row seats for the action. Jimmy White sat behind me (that wasn't included in the ticket, just by luck!). Was it worth it? Absolutely, I had a fantastic time, so would I do something similar for the Globetrotters or another big basketball match? Probably as a special treat!

Packages like the ones described are more aimed at people foing to an "event" rather than a "serious hard core" fan of the sport, and could be compared to semilar meet and great artists at concerts etc. It would be accurate to describe the Globetrotters as an "entertainment" rather than a sports event. Most professioanl sports do offer "hositality" or premium ticket packages, even in the BBL you can get a ackage of pre game hospitality and courtside seating at Riders, Bristol and maybe elseswhere.

You need to add the prices so people can judge the value/appeal or not? Standard tickets range from £24.50 - £54.50 The Hospitality Suite example is from £75pp but must be purchased as 12s The Bench example is from £142.95pp

Thank you for providing such an interesting example. Yes, it would probably be effective for them to state the number of tickets available to show exactly how exclusive the bench experience is.
