Sad that Lloyd had to return home, he became a good solid squad member making some good contributions from off the bench. He gave along with others Phoenix something that we haven't always had, a fuller bench. New guard looks a lot livelier and full of enthusiasm and fun, wonder what he's like at basketball.

Well if your an Eagles fan, this game sucks. Although given the amount of flop warnings we're getting I wonder where these officials were on Friday night when Koch from Sheffield was diving everywhere?

You have to love the great family crowd and atmosphere at Nix though
Eagles doing their best to make it competitive again

Sharks are simply nowhere near being competetive at the BBL level right now with players apparently outmatched at almost every position. Really hard to see where they will pick up another win this season. On current form it's just about whether Surrey's improved performances can see them send the wooden spoon up north 😟

Eagles were woeful, and largely AWOL in the 1st half.
They didn’t deserve a win and the refs didn’t decide the game, but having said that the officiating in tonight’s game was stupendously awful (and unless it was for verbals I couldn’t see I don’t know how hon picked up either of his 1st half technicals). Sometimes I’m left feeling that some officials want to be the stars of the show. They should just let the players play and concentrate on consistency.

Defoe deserved his flop warning and Cohn deserved his two techs. Darius has always annoyed me with his flopping, I wish he would just stand up and play defense when someone is backing him down. What he does at the moment has a very low success rate.

On current form it's just about whether Surrey's improved performances can see them send the wooden spoon up north 😟 To be honest you could make a case that it should be split into 3 and shared between Sharks, Scorchers and Eagles at the moment. Today was definitely a missed opportunity for us to close the gap on Sheffield after they lost and put us back in the race for the playoffs. But again we had a poor 1st half and gave ourselves to much to do in the 2nd half in order to recover things. Whilst we may not be out of it yet the door is certainly struggling to stay open on us clinching the 8th spot. As for the teams despite Surrey and Eagles being in the same spots I still think both teams have somewhat improved and are way more exciting to watch compared to last season. For Scorchers especially atleast they have won more games this season. As for Sharks to slip from 2nd place finish last season to scrapping the playoffs is definitely a huge fall compared to last season. Although I remember people last season thought it was a suprise they finished 2nd with the squad they had.

Embarrassing tbh. For the first time ever there has been a few murmurings of negativity toward the coach on the Supporters group on Facebook. I know that Basketball isn't like Football and coach's last much longer but this season is likely to be our nadir after years and years of sliding performances and results. I know we finished 2nd last year but that seemed to be an anomaly, Antwain Johnson was clearly very good and we miss him hugely. The new signings we have brought in to speed up the offense hasn't worked, they are not an upgrade on the 2 lads we let go, imo they are a downgrade. With us going into our 2000+ seat arena soon, we need a couple of seasons of winning basketball to get fans through the door and with this coach and this squad going the way its going, we'll be playing in a cavernous room with less fans than we get now. We need an overhaul of the entire squad and coach, I would maybe keep Kipper and Jordan Ratinho but that would be it. Very sad. Can't fault the off the court structure and team, but we need a massive rethink about what's going on on court.

They can't have a huge budget when you take in to account their crowds. They can't even fill Ponds Forge. Their home games look like something out of the dark days of the mid to late 00s. Maybe they're just where they should be?

Maybe but as fans we're still allowed to want more? Absolutely. Just maybe the coach is doing the best with what he has? He did a great job last season, but every other team is improving all the time.

Genuine question (honestly something I’ve never been conscious since working as a table official in the 80’s).
Is it usual for the three officials to walk out of an arena immediately following the end-of-game buzzer before the two teams have even finished shaking hands and (so far as I can tell) without comparing notes with the table officials? (Apologies in advance if there was dialogue with them table but it couldn’t be spotted from the video).
Because that’s what seemed to happen at the end of yesterday’s Phoenix-Eagles match.

I’ve seen that happen a few times, not often, maybe two or three times a season. Sometimes it looks suspicious but mostly it doesn’t.
