Big game for the Eagles if they want to close in or keep hope of making the playoffs. We have 3 games in hand over the Sharks and a win would help close the gap.
Although I'm not overly optimistic anymore with the way this season has panned out. Looking at our schedule we need to put a string of wins together this next month. As later on it looks like we are set to run into a Riders, Lions and Flyers all at once which given our current form will most likely destroy us.
As for the other games I'd be amazed if Scorchers beat Riders but they did upset Flyers in the Trophy so it is possible. As for the other 2 games they could go either way but would probably go Flyers and Giants on them ones.

Riders will be determined to bounce back from the defeat last weekend. Losing Taylor's a blow for Surrey but sometimes adversity builds a siege mentality and having a reduced rotation can work to a team's benefit. They were definitely on an upward curve recently but Riders have Love in their locker room now and most teams find it tough to beat us on our home court.

Not sure if I heard it correctly but I’m sure Dave Forrester said that one of their players was out with a broken hand and Andrew Lawrence missed the last game.

My prediction for tonight is vs Sharks is... -Darius to end up going to the bench with foul trouble after 3 minutes.
-Stetuel to get a T after pointing out Sharks have 8 players on court.
-Rodney Glasgow and Hamlet to have a field day.
-Mockford to take another night off.
-Eagles to storm ahead in the 1st Quarter then let it slip throughout the game until Sharks eventually win by 5.

Eagles have absolutely no excuses not to beat Sharks tonight. Sharks have a short roster, integrating new players and have no good matchup at the 2 and 4 for Hamlet and Gordon. Probably one of our few winnable home matches left this season (Sharks again and Glads other 2) (Now I've said that watch as Ratinho goes 8/12 and Koch scores 30 with Darius and French both in foul trouble)

Fairly certain Scorchers confirmed Lawrence was out due to load management but could be wrong.

Half time and pretty even game. Both teams equally brilliant and rubbish in equal measure. Cut out the turnovers, make better decisions and we have a chance here. 43-41 to Eagles.

All of a sudden Carrington Love has become Courtney Love in the third.

Love was very good tonight but the whole team played well and it was a comfortable victory. Well done Riders. Think Love is going to be a significant asset.

Apologies for the terrible grammar in my last post. Pretty even until the final quarter then Mockford came to play and Sharks went cold. Some super shots from range for Mockford and some of the most tenacious d I have seen in a long time. 9/11 (81%) shooting for Johnson was also very good. I normally enjoy watching Glasgow jnr but he was stone cold today. A win for us and a good one too.

Eagles winning comfortably against old rivals Sharks with a game winning performance from Mockford on the back of a good coaches call to take Hamlet out and put Mockford in for the 4th.
I feel like I'll wake up soon 😂

Mockford and Johnson absolutely torched us. Ratinho and Koch combined for 1 field goal between them and didn't justify their time on court. Constant hockey line changes consistently led to defensive breakdowns on the next play. That could have been the decider for the final playoff spot.

Well I wasn't expecting that tonight but I'm greatful especially given how much went against us tonight I'm shocked the Sharks didn't capitalise and beat us. In the first quarter we were very sloppy with the ball as well.
And With Darius, French and Gordon all struggling with foul trouble and having to be rotated it felt like we were hanging on for dear life most until the 4th Quarter. I'm amazed that none of them actually fouled out.
But great scoring from Hamlet and Johnson kept us going in that game and whilst I have slated him these past few weeks. Mockford became an unsung hero in the 4th the way he came alive and impressed tonight.
As for the Sharks Ramsey did a great job being a nightmare for Cohen when he was bringing the ball up. However the rest of the team were disappointing. Koch especially irritated me as it seemed like he could barely stay on his feet as he was flopping at all ends of the floor. Anyone would have thought he'd drank a few pints before playing the way he was.
Overall I was amazed at how calm Stetuel was tonight and how he managed the game considering the foul issues. And this win will certainly help our bid to making the playoffs. Although the in the event of a tie up with the aggregate now stands at 223-205 to the Sharks. Meaning the Eagles would have to win the final match up on the 7th April by 19 if they want to take the series.
However looking at our schedule coming up I would say we certainly need to win the matches we have this month. As in March we go into a period where we then face London Lion and then Leicester back to back.

wow what a correction that was - blown away and after 7min the commentators are (rightly) talking about need to quickly sort things or it will be all over before its really begun. even better was seeing the Cally guys adapting better than they have on some other road trips to what the officiating was calling and not ending up with starters fouling out and a meltdown. also thought the two new recruits showed how much they will bring to the squad. looking forward to seeing more on sunday like the last 33mins of todays game

Giants seem to have a ridiculously short bench/roster. Surely that isn't sustainable with the risk of injury and/or burnout?

Well, in the end a good and resilient win for Newcastle last night which looked unlikely when all their bugs were in foul trouble early on. Dare I say it, but (a) they eventually out-ground Sheffield (who’d have thunk it) and (b) after panning him for the last X months, Mockford suddenly dropped 13 points in a quarter (who’d have thunk that either).
Now they need to do the same in Cheshire tomorrow because there’s still a heck of a lot of catching-up to be done.
