In related news… it’s been confirmed Gloucestershire Kings will also be submitting an application for a BBL franchise commencing with 2022/23 season. Where have you seen that? I am not sure how I feel about the prospects of Gloucester having a long-lasting successful team but I suppose there’s not much to lose in them trying Jay Marriott himself confirmed it on this weeks The BBL Show.

Wpuldnt be the bbl if Reading didnt get in and they took two new starts. Definitely space for them but hopefully they wont be led to choose new before established

Dave F had stated gate receipts are big the biggest income source. There just isn’t a sizeable enough fan base to inflate the inflate the liscence fee. That may contradict what DC said but crowds increase sponsorship. Time to scrap the bbl?

If anyone agrees with me that Reading in the BBL is ludicrously-optimistic then Gloucester (particularly with Mouth Marriot involved) will be even more of an embarrassing affair.

So Reading, Birmingham and Gloucester. Imagine if all 3 ended up joining the league next season. It would feel like basketball Christmas if it did happen and 9 extra games for all teams as well!
Hearing all this talk is definitely a sign at least one of these teams is probably going to take the leap. Although on the other hand I hope non of the current teams don't suddenly drop out either like Worcester did.

Surely the amount of games would stay the same, or nearly the same, There would just be more variation in how many different teams everyone plays I’m sure we can all agree we’ve seen Giants versus Nix enough to last us a lifetime

But if they keep things the same then for each team you will get to see them play once at home and twice away or twice at home or once away meaning 9 games extra if all teams got on board. Having said said that though if you had 2 or even 3 extra teams you could split the Cup competition into 4 mini groups meaning less games at the group stage of that competition as that accumulation 8 extra games for each team which people started to class as a pre season towards the end.

Open the money pits... The Gloucester thing looks the most doubtful to me at the moment, especially with the aforementioned guy involved as well. From the outside looking in the women's team hasn't been plain sailing. Would much rather see effort go towards bringing Worcester back in to the fold, with some changes to make it less dependent on whoever is running the uni at the time. A ready made fanbase can't be sniffed at, generating a whole new fanbase from nothing is a long slog.
