Surrey Scorchers and American guard Josh Jefferson have reached an agreement to terminate the short-term contract by mutual consent.
Jefferson joined the team in late November signing a short-term contract as an injury replacement for Jalen Ray.
In 23 minutes per game Jefferson averaged 12.8 pointz whilst shooting an impressive 35% from the 3-point line.
The club would like to thank Josh for his time and effort with the team and wish him the best in the next steps of his career.

Is 35% impressive? ?

No but it's not bad either. I'd say 40% would be impressive. However, nearly 13 points in just 23 minutes is pretty good, so why are they parting ways? It can't be because he was no good?

I can only speculate but after his final game, I saw him walking home from SSP alone in the rain while the rest of his team mates were still kicking around. He looked down to me, but his team had also just blown a 10 point lead in the 4th quarter so ...
Putting 2 and 2 together and making 300, maybe being on a losing team in a cold, foreign country on a short term deal wasn’t working for him and he was homesick and desperate to be back home for Christmas?
Looks like Jalen Ray is close to being fit again and I *think* Jefferson was only ever signed as a short term replacement for him so maybe he would have had to be delisted soon anyway?
Wish him all the best as he was certainly one of our more effective players the last few weeks.

Yeah but if you are getting paid to play isn't that what counts, when you're a professional player? Doesn't sound like he has another job lined up. Winning isn't everything. But yes perhaps it was only a short term deal anyway and he wanted to get home for xmas. Just sometimes when a player is brought in to cover for an injury, if they turn out to be very good the team will often find a way to keep them even when the injured guy returns. Not sure if Surrey would have to release another import to do that though.
