Could the BBL be in trouble for this? www.plymouthherald.co.uk/news/plymouth-news/plymouth-raiders-collapse-probed-after-7925954Allegedly, the Sport England grabt during the pandemic that was given to Raiders was misused. Rather than use it to pay bills and suppliers, they used it to pay better players. Allegedly, BBL found out and stripped them of their franchise. They were concerned that SE woukd find out and ask for all the other club's money back. How did the league allow a club so deeply mired in debt to continue playing in the BBl, to live in a worsening state and to be owned and operated by such financially incompetent owners? £868,000 of debt in less than 4 years. Thats ridiculous. Surely they ovetsee clubs' financial positions? They must know what's going on? And how do owners and directors screw this situation up so badly. All that debt and no silvetware to show for it. I hope their egos were suitably massaged. Technically, surely this is fraud? Misuse of public money - SE grant, local authority money (combined £150,000). I hope they all get the book thrown at them.

When all this was happening on the old whatsbev a few of us highlighted that there was clearly bad stuff happening at Raiders back then
When the Pavilions CEO went to the press to say the venue rent hadn't being paid for months despite the club getting their Covid support loans it was abundantly clear the money was being misspent by someone
Maybe those responsible will be held to account at some stage

The GM ultimately is to blame but all 3 owners have varying elements of guilt

Well, we now know the Plymouth Raiders branding and Foxy the Mascot intellectual property was eventually acquired for £15,000. Bit of a shame those behind Plymouth City Patriots weren't offered that deal at the time.
As for all the rest of it.... oh dear, what a mess! I still think MLA College Sports/Enver Yücel aren't properly being held to account.

That's a crazy amount of money to have spent, with absolutely nothing to show for it. Hope there are some consequences for those deemed responsible and the our of pocket are in some way recompensed. I won't hold my breath though.
One thing I don't get, is how there is animosity to the new people who've taken over at the Patriots. What are they deemed to have done wrong? All I see is people who've stuck their neck on the line to ensure pro basketball still exists in Plymouth. Yet I see quite a lot of negativity from people who supported the Raiders. Not a dig at anyone, I'm just genuinely curious.

They were, it was an open auction My understanding was that there was an attempt to acquire the Plymouth Raiders branding (including the mascot) before it ultimately went to auction. The owners of the Plymouth City Patriots had deadlines, and the asking price was unrealistically high. The 'Plymouth City Patriots' were therefore born, and the Raiders branding later went to auction. Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.

I went so far as to submit a bid of £500 for just Foxy, given how much my son had enjoyed seeing "Mr Fox" at the game the day before he was wrapped into the liquidation process. Someway short of 15 grand for the whole lot though! Nothing in that article is new news though, they're just late in publishing the information that's already in the public domain. I wonder why the timing... Could there be a Foxy Industry about to start up?

I'm very disappointed with how they've gone about certain aspects of it. Then there are people to that lean to the left and right of me. Certain extremist views, let's say, clearly get more attention when they blow up. The one thing I would challenge though, why are they so annoyed?

Thanks for answering, it's a shame you feel that way. I hope I don't have to go through similar up here in Newcastle amy time soon. What is it that disappoints you in their approach? From the outside looking in, they seems to have some good people doing good things down there. It certainly looks like they've kept (or added new faces?!?) a decent level of support.
