It's just possible that not only are some of the "name" players not as good as their reputations suggest, but that they are not very good playing in a team together. It's also possible that GB actually need better coaching from a coach and assistants who are used to building winning programs. The coaches are all volunteers. What exactly do/would you expect when our players aren't as good as the opposition. The first choice 8 of (mostly) Philip, Nelson, Hesson, Soko, Olaseni, Okerafor, Clark, Mockford are/were a very good team to a point. Excellent victories in qualifying for EuroBasket. Not surprised we're struggling with so many of those players missing and Clark now retired. Tbh on Friday it felt weird seeing Dan Clark and Murray suited up instead of in shooting vests. But to me that shows love and dedication to the programme especially if they volunteered to continue representing there country in another way. Whilst I do enjoy watching GB when I can I think unless we were to get some Brits to the NBA and the profile of the game go's up I feel like at the moment the national side has kind of hit a ceiling. When you look at other nation teams France and Spain have squads full of current and ex NBA players. Whilst other countries have superstars like... (Sorry for the spelling on some of these) Greece-Giannis Antekumpo Slovenia-Luka Donic Serbia-2 time consecutive NBA MVP Nikola Jokic. Lativia-Kristaps Portzingas And I think having a big NBA star that can be marketed around really does raise a countries profile in the world of Basketball. And going back to the Lativa game back in July for anyone who was there. I saw an army of away fans to the stadium which I felt was alot to do with Portzingas being at that game. Perhaps if GB had the next star then maybe our national standing in the world would be different. However unfortunately unless Sport England and UK Sport were to take the sport as seriously to get it to that stage then they're constantly going to keep running in a circle and the team never hitting the next level. I mean if things had have been different perhaps we could have had NBA Spurs rookie Jeremy Sochan pledge allegiance to us instead of Poland. But he saw better opportunity to progress further with Poland and they finished 4th at this years Eurobasket.

Just when it seemed GB were making progress it’s all gone flat since euro basket Although this would be controversial someone I know once said they should scrap the GB team altogether and put more money into expanding the domestic league. Then if the profile of the game was to get bigger and players make it to the NBA levels or top levels of Europe then you could look at bringing the national team back. I understand that no one would want to scrap the national team. However without more backing and a stronger calibre team to compete with the heavyweights at Eurobasket. Then I sadly only see the GB team only going round in circles every 4 years. And if Sport England and UK Sport don't care then we have no chance.

Why should UK Sport and Sport England invest their limited funds into a sport that is very badly run, and does nothing to attract comercial sponsorship.
There is a reason why other minority sports attract good comercial sponsors, they provide a product and spectator experience that appeals to the investing companies market demographic.

Agreed, basketball in the UK doesn't deserve outside funding at the moment. The current setup just isn't going to provide players at the level they need to be at, to make an impact in Europe. Just look at the two teams we played over the weekend. There is a culture there of players picking up the sport at a young age and becoming proper basketball players. We aren't even close to that in this country.

The sport is doing nothing to make itself viable for companies to invest in.
Do the BBF even know what their audience demographic is to enable them to sell comercial sponsorship and investment opportunities?
Do the BBF have an offering that would make a company want to invest and get a return on their investment?
Plus are the clubs involved doing all they can to promote the sport positively?

From the outside looking in, I don't think the BBF are anywhere near understanding this stuff. It literally needs to be torn down and start again from scratch. Some Individual clubs are doing a good job. I live in Newcastle and they're doing a great job of getting lots of kids playing basketball, regularly at a young age. I can't speak for anything going on in the rest of the country though.
