Would be great, but the owners are never going to vote for something that would be so damaging to themselves

I'm just not sure how it would work for the G League team moving up as I assume there is a massive budget and arena difference between the G League and NBA.
Plus I seen people on Facebook commenting like "Imagine LeBron playing in the G League!". I suppose one thing unlike premier league football is the league usually changes that much even current Champs Golden State Warriors may find themselves down the bottom at some point.
The season before last year I swear they did finish bottom. Which if this rule had have been active then they wouldn't have been in the NBA last season to win the championship. Also alot of NBA teams have a development team in the G League as well. So it would be like Westchester Knicks being promoted and then facing off against there father team New York Knicks.

Silver did poo poo the idea immediately though, he just said it was discussed but never seriously. Teams might tank but they have a 14% chance of winning the lottery at best so it's not really worth it. Utah is off to a 2-0 start, they were meant to be the worst team in the league! So might not be that much of an issue after all.

If you want to avoid tanking remove the draft lottery

Whew, Utah improve to 3-0 all against expected playoff teams! I'm not sure tanking is quite such a big deal really.
But if you removed the draft, how would you go about assigning the new players to teams?
