I know it was only one game and a friendly but tonight was one of the best Eagles games I have seen in a long time! We defeated the Swedish team Norkopping Dolphins 87-79.
However in the game itself we were playing fast offense, tough defence as well as defensive rebounding. And we were banging down shots from all angles with a coach that was steering us well from the sidelines.
Yes without Duke Shelton who we 100% need to try and sign who was without a doubt MVP things may have been different. But asides from our Free Throw shooting I really liked what I saw tonight.
As for the Dolphins they were great and respectable opponents and to be honest I felt the officiate went a little to well in our favour. So I couldn't blame their team or coach getting upset but we certainly just out played them in a fantastic game.
Whilst I'm not saying we are favourites to win the league or silverware this season. If we play like we did tonight then I certainly believe we will be an exciting team to watch. And a breath of fresh air compared to what we were last season.

It was a fun and surprisingly intense game for preseason. I can't believe Duke wont be signed, if he was just training with the team he would be so integrated into the team and playing 30 Minutes in friendlies.

31 points 17 rebounds is an impressive application to join any team, but we’d need that energy every week. So would Duke and Louis complete our squad for the season ?

Aye that's the only disappointment is that if he plays that well another team might finally snap him up. Although clearly last night he was enjoying himself and felt at home with us when hyping the crowd up. Certainly a fan favourite as well especially looking at the Facebook comments.Alot of people are saying "please sign Duke". The way he was playing particularly that first dunk which was insane it was like he was a on mission to be next seasons league MVP.

Still not sure Shelton is the answer, maybe only part of the answer? That team last night was perfect for him, and he kind of did what he should do against that lightweight forward line. Their centre was an excellent shooter, but looked a bit soft in the paint for me.
If we signed Shelton, I'd like to see another big who can stretch the floor signed as well to complement him.
Also, not convinced Aughberns will be around much longer. Was benched pretty emphatically yesterday in favour of Shelton and Defoe and looked very short of confidence. Maybe just me looking in to things too much, perfect opportunity to prove himself tonight vs Sheffield.
Really enjoyed last night's game, was played to a good level of intensity. We did let them get their threes off a bit easy mind!

That's a point, lots of talk about Sayers but as far as I can see there hasn't been any mention from the club. Bit late considering friendlies are already been played and team training been going on for quite a bit.

We just signed a new player today but I do respect the fact despite the new life theirs still a recipe for things to go wrong. I just seen tonight we lost 80-56 to the Sharks in our final friendly. Reminds me a little bit of last season when we were buzzing after back to back wins over the Lions and Nix before being dropped by the Flyers the following week. However I ain't counting Steutel or the Eagles out just yet.

It was an interesting matchup against Sheffield, who are pretty much the same team as last year and were well organised defensively compared to Dolphins. The amount of times we ran the shot click right down unable to get a shot off or get any players open. Not helped that the only player who got hot from 3 was Jermel Kennedy. Mockford had 'one of those games' and must have been 0 from 8. Aughburns got in fouls trouble early again meaning Darius playing more minutes than I'm sure was planned. Much work to do.

Indeed, much work to do. And indeed still some recruitment to be done, if I heard the announcements correctly.
Sheffield have more continuity, decent defence and move the ball much better.

Allowing for the fact the game was on a back to back night it’s concerning the margin of defeat to not the strongest of bbl oppo let’s say

I think Sharks will be happy that the whole squad contributed. Will be looking to get off to a fast start to the season but Lions and Giants is a tough opening schedule.
