Hi everyone, hope you all had a great summer.
Some exclusive news...
Fans will be able to watch all BBL games LIVE and on-demand via the BBL’s official YouTube channel throughout the 2022/23 season. Games will also be available via BBL Player.
And as previously announced, Sky Sports and the BBL have agreed a 1 year extension deal (following on from the original 2 year deal) to broadcast select BBL games and all BBL/WBBL Finals on Sky Sports and Sky Sports YouTube channel. Coverage starts on the opening day of the season (23/09) and will once again be produced by Buzz16.
I know the YouTube coverage simply duplicates the BBL Player coverage, but the YouTube platform is more stable and has extra functionality than BBL Player (like letting you watch a game from the start whilst it's still streaming live). Plus coverage on YouTube will undoubtedly attract more casual viewers than the BBL Player, so I'd say this is very good news.

It’s great that they’ll be more eyeballs on the league, let’s just hope the quality of the coverage has improved… what should be a great move could also turn into an embarrassing one if the quality of the product you’re putting out there isn’t good.

Great news, as said above both the ease of watching and the extra viewers this will attract is only a good thing

Excellent news! after a summer complaining how we get next to no national team coverage it's great that our domestic league atleast is getting better publicity!

We have to give the league/777 partners some credit here... not everyone will know that Nunchee (the OTT streaming service that BBL Player runs on) is another 777 company/investment, so for them to essentially turn their backs on that in favour of YouTube says something about their priorities and interest in doing whatever is best for the BBL regardless.

Just spotted on the Courtside app that it is listing it will show the BBL opener Sharks/Lions - so looks like the games being filmed for Sky will also be made available for a much wider audience.

I can see the games listed in the calendar, but how do you know they're going to be streamed via the Courtside app?

I thought it was showing what it will have video off, not just fixtures. Sorry for confusion, new to this max courtside account.

My understanding is that it provides details of many leagues fixtures/results (much like the FlashScore app) but actual coverage of very few. It's good to watch things like the FIBA Champions League though.

Replays are quick and rarely spoil the showing of the live game. This is shaping to be the best season so far for BBL fans in terms of media quality.

Just doing some research on this… so my understanding is that WSC Sports provides the BBL with game highlights (about 2 mins) and condensed game highlights (about 12 mins) for every game shortly after a game ends for upload to their YouTube channel. So another major step forward for the league this season, and a sign of their digital content commitment, which I think is essential for growth.

Basically similar to what I offered to do for them, but of course this will be much quicker and presumably cheaper unless the software writers want a large amount of money for using it.

www.bbl.org.uk/british-basketball-league-partner-with-brandvox-as-official-broadcast-partner-of-owned-and-operated-channels/This is great news, essentially the BBL are using an (albeit little know upstart) production and distribution company for it's YouTube coverage this season, as opposed to getting the clubs to do it (amateurly) in-house as per pervious seasons. Brandvox have previously produced coverage of Bristol and Plymouth games, so that'll let you know the level of quality to expect. It also explains why the non-Sky coverage has been better and more consistent so far this season. Sky Sports coverage will continue to be produced by Buzz16.
