There is an article from Mark Woods and it mentions the possibility of second Scottish team, but I would assume it will be very much in the future. Not so sure about the new name, it will cause confusion with the WBBL team also called Caledonia Gladiators and playing from a different venue until eventually they move to the new joint venue. Would have left it with the Rocks for this season at least. www.mvp247.com/2022/09/glasgow-caledonia-gladiators/

East Kilbride seems a bit far from the centre for an arena no? 6000 seats is very ambitious as well but fair play to them

I think another Scottish team would be fantastic if it can be sustainable, just need Cardiff and Belfast after that (Dublin too lol)

bit.ly/3RIEWwKInteresting. Not sure I’m ok with them not being Rocks anymore. based on the comments on the announcement on the Rocks FB page, there are a good number of folk not feeling ok about the dropping of the Rocks part of the name. surprised to see 6k mentioned is the plan for the arena capacity - purely cause I did not think the site I was told about at the weekend could provide the car parking needed for that size of crowd. Also its a decent distance from the train station so that's not an easy option alternate to using a car.

From what I was told at the weekend they have ambition, especially for the WBBL team to play Euroleague and for that you need a stadium capacity of greater than 5000, so they are planning for 6000. They might only get a few thousand spectators but it is based on capacity rather than number of people there.
Like all things will need to wait and see what the final plans look like.

Don't get this at all, binning what I thought was a strong recognisable brand for something that's just a bit meh.
Looks like exciting plans though at least for the long term.

It's so sad to see the Rocks die after 24 years, if someone in Scotland only knew one thing about the BBL guaranteed it was the Rocks name
Clear to see how this has happened, the Lady Rocks bought Caledonia Pride so they could have a WBBL team but because Lady Rocks were not actually owned by Glasgow Rocks they had to change their name and went with Gladiators as this was their name before becoming Lady Rocks. However, they then later bought the Glasgow Rocks anyway which is great having both the WBBL and BBL teams under one roof but it was too late for the WBBL team to be called Rocks so they have instead renamed the Glasgow Rocks to Caledonian Gladiators as well. Looks like it's not going down well online at all, people seemed pretty set on Caledonia Rocks being the eventual name, this would have made the most sense for a Lady Rocks/Caledonia Pride/Glasgow Rocks merger
It is understandable that Caledonia Gladiators want to get their moneys worth from the time and effort put in to rebranding Lady Rocks but they still could have saved the Rocks name by keeping it as the BBL team name for now then in a couple of seasons when the new arena is built that would have been an opportunity to combine the Caledonia Gladiators and Glasgow Rocks names and have both teams called Caledonia Rocks. This will be the first season since 1997/98 to not feature a Rocks team

Crap name, East Kilbride is a very bad choice of relocation. I always thought it m’d be Duncan Disorderly that would kill off the Rocks. I’m sure the franchise is in good safe hands but the Rocks is no more. I feel bad for the Reid’s after all their hard work with the team and work in the community.

www.bbc.com/sport/basketball/62895536It's always good to see British basketball being reported in the media. I still don't understand why Caledonian Gladiators is better than Caledonia Rocks. It's a silly name. The Romans didn't successfully conquer Caledonia so I'm not sure what they're trying to do with the brand. Bath Rugby has a lion dressed as a centurion called Maximus as their mascot. Bath was a Roman city so it makes sense. What will Caledonian Gladiators do as a mascot? Dress Rocky as a Gladiator? What does that have to do with anything?

I return from London and come back to this.
Not a fan, I think they've made a very big mistake with this, should have kept them as Glasgow Rocks. It's a bit like when Braehead Clan changed to Glasgow Clan and the dumb reason for changing it, was because the players didn't know where Braehead was.

Are we still wearing Rocks gear? You may as well do… After all Lions faithful we’re still wearing Purple MK Lions gear as their new Stuff was near on impossible to get hold off.

I just find it daft tbh, why not wait till you have new kits in place then do a rebrand.
At least when Braehead did it and changed they had new merch. Yes, I know circumstances are different but still everything about this rebrand has been silly.
