After the first 2 pre season games the Eagles have parted ways with Broadway Jr! I apoligise as I probably could have found plenty of better puns for the title of this thread. I never saw him play so have no idea what could have gone wrong or whether he was given a better offer or something elsewhere. I would say cutting a player early on is always concerning although in recent season is has become more of a habit for the Eagles and BBL teams in general. newcastle-eagles.com/news/club-statement-broadway-jr/

From the Surrey friendly he looked OK. Can't say anymore than that. He seemed like a good defender with good length and fitness, kind of Drew Lasker-esque in a way. He really didn't seem comfortable shooting or driving though. Can only assume personal issues or someone better is coming in perhaps.

It will be interesting to know which party decided this, I will say out of all of the Americans he is the one that on paper I would be least bothered about leaving
Eagles do need to get their roster sorted though I know most teams leave it until after the season starts to finish building the squad but they are probably three or four players away which is a bit worrying
Guessing by the statement it’s Eagles who cut him, I wonder how much that cost them

It will have cost them an air fare and visa application - players will be on a standard trial period enabling them to be cut at modest cost during that period. But not negligible.

Anyway, plenty of scope for more theatrics at Newcastle this season - we do, after all, have Hamlet…..

Duke Shelton playing for Eagles tonight. Cutting Broadway makes sense now.

Duke Shelton playing for Eagles tonight. Cutting Broadway makes now. I'm guessing France mustn't have worked out or the Eagles approached with a better offer. Before he got injured last season I did feel he was starting to come into his own for us and less of the showboating. If we havent re-signed him then we should get the paperwork rolled out to him asap.
