Sam Neter is spot on. That other article is a load of rubbish.

People need to ralise that for the game to grow it needs to attract comecial sponsorship, and get away from relying on public funding. That needs a total change of attitude. There is a reason why other sports attract significant comercial sponsorship, they have a market demographic, and provide a product, that is attractive to companies, and offer an event experience that is attractive to companies to use for their corporate guests. The lack of professionalism in the way the game is run, at club and governing body level also works against the growth of the sport.

Everyone is improving except GB. The British Basketball Federation has been a failure. We might as well go back to having home nations teams. At least that way Wales and Scotland could play in the FIBA Europe Tournament for Small Countries. And I don't see why England would be any worse than Team GB. It's not like GB is ever going to qualify for an Olympic Games tournament or a World Cup. We wouldn't be giving anything up; we don't even have a shirt sponsor or a broadcast deal.

Well we just lost to Greece which is no surprise. It looks like it's going to be us vs Estonia to decide who gets the wooden spoon position? ☹️

Wouldn't England practically be Team GB? The entire eurobasket roster is English unless I'm mistaken.

I believe it would be the same players but having a Great Britain basketball team was supposed to result in a better basketball team, which I guess it did from about 2009 to 2013, but I really don't see the benefit now. Scotland and Wales might enjoy having a team in the Championship for Small Countries.

Alot of truths well written truth there and it is hard to argue. Question is will anything be done to right this or be learnt?

Thoroughly depressing, you just had to see and hear the players after the games to understand how they felt. Money and success don't bring team spirit and commitment but you you just smell the disappointment after those games.

So going back to home nations teams looks out of the question then. The BBF needs new leadership; someone with a vision.
