What exactly are the rules for who qualifies as an import now?
BBL's guidance says four plus one (i.e. could hold a green card) but think that hasn't been updated.
It's not clear how the changes to 'five' impact a player like Dirk Williams whose wife is British and who Vince suggested on the BBL Show intends to qualify and play for GB a la Kevin Pietersen in cricket.
Also wondered if their are residency and tenuring rules.
For example, do Defoe, Hassan or Fletcher pass into 'homegrown' having been in the league forever?
Clear as mud!

5 consecutive years like it's always been?
Fletch would have qualified for residence a few years ago if he hadn't left for that one season in Slovenia. But I don't think he's ever been a permanent resident either (like Lasker, Fab, Smith etc)

Its 5 years until you qualify to apply and pay to do it. When Drew Lasker did it i remember him saying it cost a huge sum

Residence qualification is basically dead. 5 years consecutive not counted if on a tier 5 visa (which basically all players were).
Slightly changed now but players won’t be qualifying until 2024 at the earliest.
Marriage is far easier route.

Thanks all! Need to go away and have a look at the Home Office rules. Time was I knew those for work purposes.
Still unsure whether Giants is 3 or 4 imports so far, but I think it's 3!
