Unfortunately for Sharks faithful they have re-signed for the 4th season 6’10” centre Bennett Koch, Who averaged 8.0 points and 4.1 rebounds last season.

Unless he’s on a university deal making him a very cheap recruit? In which case, with 5 imports this season, would make sense…….

Kipper Nichols has also been announced as a re-signing Bit too hot and cold for me, But like it’s been said above they finished 2nd last season…..

Should be a lot of familiarity in the squad, which we need to take advantage of, but Nichols and Koch really need to step up their impact every game if we're going to fill the gap left by Johnson's injury. Really hope Ratinho fills the last import slot otherwise we're short on proven top level bbl quality

Bizarre re-signings. We had 4 Americans last season discounting Ratinho and Glasgow.
Johnson and Wallace were the best two statistically and with your eyes!
Granted Johnson was injured so could not come back and Wallace got a good deal in Europe but when we signed 2 new Americans (a big guy and a new shooting guard) I thought we would just sign 2 more new ones. An athletic wing and another big.
So suprised they have brought back 2 players who seemed to have regressed each year to me? Nicholls is an ok sort of 6th man type but is hot and cold and rarely puts 2 good games together. He can defend well and does create his own shot. Not awful him coming back but would not want him starting.
Koch is odd. He had long spells not playing or would not start and would get into foul trouble. He slowed the team down with his foot speed and I just felt the team would release him looking at how little he seemed to play compared to other seasons.
As others have said both players must be here on fairly decent contracts. I have no issue with that if we sign Ratinho back to start and another British guy so we could bring these 2 off the bench but if either/both are starting not sure we will be anywhere near 2nd place this year.
I know we finished 2nd but I would say that was more down to others than Koch and Nicholls who were role players (both had a number of games they did not start).
At the moment seems to be:
G Glasgow G Banks F F Oyenyemi C ---- F Nicholls C Koch F Delpeche G Montgomery
If we sign 2 more starters (Ratinho and one other then maybe the side is ok) but if 2 of those 3 bench players start then with Manchester, London and others recruiting well, we would be looking at 5th-8th I feel at best.
No problems if they have decided to save on the budget this year and focus on the 23-24 season when they have the new arena and can maybe start afresh with a new team completely with perhaps a bigger budget with generating own income and not paying rent etc.

Actually if it's 5 imports - we only have signed 4 in Banks, Oyenyemi, Nicholls and Koch as Glasgow is naturalised isn't he?
So in affect we could sign Ratinho and one other American - maybe a 3/4 and they could switch Oyenyemi to centre?
Does say more signings will be announced this week - seems to be the trend though to sign cheaper Americans maybe and spend more on British players so if we signed Ratinho and a really good Brit, no issues so much but not sure I can stand watching Koch drag himself up and down the court.
Nicholls is fine as a bench gunner/defender.

Nicholls is fine as a bench gunner/defender. It's 5 non Brits, Ratinho is American/Portuguese right? So he'd count as an import now. This probably counts against him resigning. Rule used to be 4 Americans and 1 European, but is now just 5 non-Brits Glasgow has a British Virgin Islands passport hence not an import.

Ratinho confirmed so...
Seems like
G Glasgow G Banks F Ratinho F ? C Ogunyemi --- F Nicholls C Koch F Delpeche G/F ? G Montgomery
Ratinho is superb for me and even those his stats might not look that good he is a brilliant and reliable player who does a lot both ends. Great resigning. Indeed him and Glasgow as solid as they come at this level.
Hopefully one more stellar GB signing and a shooter off the bench maybe and roster could be ok. The signings of Koch and Nicholls fine if they come off the bench.
If one of them starts then it looks a lot weaker. That next move/decision dictates whether they are a top 4 side again or lower. London, Leicester and Manchester appear stronger but people forget Sharks finished ahead of a star packed London last year.
Like with a lot of clubs depends what the new Americans are like though. Hope we have some shooting and athleticism with two mobile players.

Ratinho confirmed so... Seems like G Glasgow G Banks F Ratinho F ? C Ogunyemi --- F Nicholls C Koch F Delpeche G/F ? G Montgomery First name on the team sheet for me. Priority for me is now an experienced backup point guard and maybe a stretch 4, and hopefully Mvuezolo and Baldwin return too

Mvuezolo currently playing in Thailand - but seems he has just finished their playoffs. He improved a lot as the seaposn went on and be great for that 8th/9th man role.
Yes we probably do need another guard unless Banks can do that role
Love us to sign a quality small forward/slasher and then those two positions as indicated but finances may not allow it and it may be Nicholls at the 4 or maybe Ogunyemi and Koch with Nicholls off the bench.

Interesting signing and means we have a good rotation of guards as Ratinho and Nicholls can play SG too if we go really big to compliment The new guys x 2 and Glasgow.
He is American too and a decent pedigree playing at a good league last year so with him, Koch, Nicholls, Banks and Oyunyemi that makes 5 imports with Glasgow with a GB passport so not sure what category Ratinho fits into as per the post further up - I thought he had a Portuguese passport too?
Seems we may go with Glasgow at the SG maybe then...think he is more of a shooter than a point and plays better off the ball...just means we have a bigger PG 6-2/3 and Glaagow at 5'11 at the SG maybe switching defensively?
Maybe now a three guard line up but leaves us small up top?
G Sa'eed G Glasgow G Banks F Ogunyemi/Nicholls C Koch/Ogunyemi
Bench Nicholls, Ratinho, Delpeche
Or probably....what I'd anticipate?
G Sa'eed G Glasgow F Ratinho F Nicholls C Ogunyemi/Koch ---- G Banks F Delpeche C Koch/Ogunyemi
Still love a quality forward and then we'd maybe have quite a deep team but suspect it will be Mveuzolo to join Montgomery yo round out the 10.
All depends how good the three Americans are as I have said before.
