With Johnson I think if he does well at Manchester then perhaps it will confirm that his poor performance last may have been down to how Ian used him last season considering how effective he was at Riders.
If that was the case it would surprise me since alot of the time last season it felt we never had much of a game plan when we were down. And given the talent we had on our roster it did feel that way some times especially when we didn't make the playoffs.

This will be some shooting team, if the Kofi rumours are to be believed as well!

Tbh I thought the same with Sayers especially the season before he was brilliant for us with the dagger 3's. Then last year he wasn't as effective. Although he was out ill or injured for half season.

I don't know for sure what Corey's reasons for leaving Riders were but money would seem like the most likely thing to me. Wouldn't blame him for that one bit but I do think the contrasting fortunes of Riders and Eagles is something that may have weighed on his shoulders increasingly heavily as last season progressed. Ultimately the team he left didn't miss him at all and the team he joined proceeded to have it's worst season in living memory. You'd need to be pretty thick skinned for that to not bruise your ego at least a little bit.
That being said, I thought he had a perfectly good season individually. Statistically he was a better player at Eagles than he was at Riders. And I remember being impressed with him in at least one of the meetings between the sides last year. Showed more strings to his bow than were evident during his time at Riders. Obviously he can be a bit streaky, just like any player who shoots a lot of threes. But his numbers average out perfectly well year after year. Mockford on the other hand has been statistically pretty dreadful in three of his four seasons in the BBL. I know which player I'd rather have. At the right price I wouldn't have been at all disappointed to see Johnson back at Riders next season. Mockford... no thanks.
Seems to me like whenever Eagles have a disappointing season (and there have been quite a few in recent years, let's face it) it's always the fault of the new players. The fans always want to pin the blame on guys who are there for one, maybe two seasons at most. The old favourites who have been chewing up a big chunk of the budget for years on end always get off scot-free.

Would have thought Johnson would be the perfect player for Steutel with his energy and defence
I agree with the above. His 3pt average overall is as good as most in BBL
Tbf to the Eagles fans on here they haven't been overly critical above
I suspect Steutel is working to a budget and Johnson doesn't fit into it
Have Eagles sorted a new main sponsor yet?

I'd have to disagree with you saying we blamed the new players as to me most the critism last year was probably on Coach Mac and how the team had no steering or game plan at times. And there were alot of reasons why we weren't great last season with new ones being added almost every week Whilst the new players we brought in weren't always effective or as effective as they couldn't be. I did question whether most of the poor performances may have been down to the team not being piloted correctly. As other Riders fans pointed out Corey Johnson was a great player for them but for us he was about average. If things end up going well for him in Manchester then that may prove the Eagles and the team last year just weren't the right fit for him.

as an eagles fan i don’t really recognise a number of disappointing seasons recently.
Last year was a disaster. Year before 2 trophies including first play off title for 7 years. Year before that (covid) 1 out of 2 trophies available. Year before that 3rd in the league. Year before that they lost (ok hammered) in play off final - 3rd in league).
Watching all the games fletcher and defoe were the only good things about them last year. without fletcher the offence disappeared, without defoe the defence disappeared. And the rest of the major contributors were all new players.
