And of course all star weekend begins tonight. No idea who's in the slam dunk or 3 point this year but there's always potential for them to be great. Typically about 1 in 4 dunk contests really delivers.

I was wondering how he was even allowed in it as he only just got called up to a main roster. But what a selection of dunks! The clear winner. Was nice to see Lillard win the 3 point as well, doing it for the veterans!

The selection process for the all star game and the supporting events is biased in favour of certain teams.
It is a joke that the best team in the West only has one player at the event.

That could be true but is it biased? The starters are picked from a combination of votes from players, fans and the media now. I think it's still the coaches who pick the bench and Silver picks injury replacements. I do think Denver should have 2 all stars.
Nice to see SGA getting in for OKC, it's been a while since we had one, I think Westbrook and PG13 were the last ones.

I'm probably being thick here but I cant watch the All Star Game back on my league pass subscription. Why would that be?
I can watch all other games.

Or its done so that when the nugs win the chip they can say jokic is better than lebron because he did it without any all-stars

I decided to record the ASG on sky as it was on one of the free channels, but it should be available on league pass too - its usually just all star Saturday that isn't, which always annoys me.
As for Jokic, going off what they have been saying on PTI and around the horn, he sounds like a very good bet to win his 3rd straight MVP. The problem is as they said, the other 3 players to do it (Russell, Wilt, Bird) all won championships in the spell. Jokic hasn't even been to the finals yet. He won't want that legacy of 3 straight MVPs but no finals or rings to show for it!

Holy crap! Kings 176, Clippers 175 last night! 2nd highest scoring game ever. The record set in 1983 was a triple overtime affair but only slightly higher. This game was double OT so you have to think if it had gone one more, they would have broken that record, which is another one I always thought wouldn't be beaten.

Hugely disappointed in Ja Morant. He was fast becoming my favourite player, but all this gun business is terrible. I'm not convinced by the narrative that he needs counselling to deal with stress issues either - lots of people have stress, they don't go taking guns on planes or into clubs and wave them about. Yes sure, get counselling and get help but let's not gloss over his actions and find some excuse for them. Gilbert Arenas did this and his career never recovered, and he was properly punished. I am amazed Adam Silver has not commented on this situation yet.
Meanwhile on the court, what's happened to the Nugs, Mile High? 4 straight losses! Not the time of season for that. OKC up to the 8th spot today, let's hope it continues! I figured 6 more wins from the last 13 games should be enough to get in the play-in bracket. Looking at their schedule, it's achievable but wins will need to come against either Toronton, the Clippers, Suns or Lakers along with winning the easier games.

If you don't defend you dont win, also some of the coaching from Malone is very formulaic. Last night Raptors had a brilliant first quart, 49 points, which is hard to come back from.
Probably time for a rethink on hte rotations, I'd give Braun more time, with less for Jackson, who hasn't really added anything to the team.
It's been a tough week for the Nuggetts and anyone in the UK watching their games :-(

With the Nuggets slide and lack of strong defence people are now proposing we may see the Kings in the finals! I'm nearly spontaneously combusting trying to process that - I'm only just coping with the idea they'll be in the playoffs! But no, there's no way - for one thing, the Kings are probably even worse on D than 'enver (see what I did there? ) I think KD comes back and the Suns waltz to the finals. They have the experience to be able to do it without having had many games together as a unit and the West isn't as top heavy as it usually is.

At this stage a lot depends on how fit the teams are, all players are hurting at this stage of the season, but players missing games can have a massive impact on a team.
Also, it's usual fr sides to raise there game against the top team in their conference, so Nuggets have been the target for several months.
Finally, having watched a lot of games this season, it is obvious that some teams benefit from a softer touch from officials than others, there are numerous instances of a Denver player being mugged and officials claim no contact!

I'm really getting into the race for the bottom half of the Western playoffs/play-in. OKC have been on a great run, winning 8 of 10 and I'm now thinking rather than scraping in as the 10th seed for the play-ins, we might have a chance to finish higher up. 6th is probably not realistic but 7 or 8 gives you more advantage to come through the play-in. Given the last few seasons and then losing Holmgren for the year, that would be fantastic. Everyone predicted a bottom 5 finish when Holmgren went down so it's been a great season anyway. Its so bunched up in the West though, a couple of losses on the bounce can be hugely damaging.

Well, not how I'd have liked it to happen but we're in the play in! Dallas completely collapsing since acquiring Kyrie helped. Wasn't expecting them to lose to the Bulls last night or the Spurs in the season finale, so was thinking we'd have to beat Memphis to get in but now it doesn't matter. It's great just to be involved again after a few years in the wilderness, even if only for one game.

In fact just read that the Mavs essentially tanked last night, seems they'd rather lose and not make the play in. But why? Their chance of winning the lottery is going to be tiny so wouldn't it still be better to get to the play in? Ah well suits me!

Hands up if you had Miami beating Milwaukee 4-1 then?! What an unbelievable result! So the Heat lose their first play-in game, relegating them from 7th spot where they had been. Then they win to snag the 8th seed and well, it seemed to work out very well for them! What on earth went wrong for the Bucks?! 8 seed beating 1 seed, you don't see that very often and certainly not in 5 games. Wow!
You must be pleased with Denver's progress so far, MH? Pretty easy round 1 win there. Tough series with the Suns coming up - you'd think the winner of this will advance to the finals.

Giannis having his freethrow wobbles back cost Bucks big in that final game unfortunately.

Nuggets played some very good team focused basketball in all five games. Jamel is back to his best and they have a unique player in Jokic. Hopefully they can go all the way, perhaps they might then get the respect they deserve.
