Went don’t get much news about Scorchers
But…
Scorchers have signed NBL standout 6’3” Guard Luke Busumbru, Who averaged 14.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.9 assists with Solent last season, Shooting 57% from the field.

Never seen any NBL myself. Is it going to be a big step up for him?

Kyle Carey added to the team. Lloyd looks like he's building a solid team. Still very quiet on Sharks and Giants though.

Well with Surrey being a different kettle of fish I imagine the focus will be similar to what Robbie P said in an interview when he first took over Leicester.
Which was not to win championships or titles but more try to make Surrey a team people don't want to play. As I said previously last season playing Surrey was like getting an instant win pick up on your season. And whilst the Eagles were poor Surrey were the only team who actually didn't test us last year.
So I'm sure Lloyd when he took over, yes will one day want to make this a team who competes for silverware but would rather try to walk before he runs first. I mean if he somehow manages to defeat London and Leicester then that would be huge but even he must be thinking baby steps first.

I wonder if any of the Lions players from last season, not resigned this season, will end up at Scorchers.

That's a very good call Dexter. If they have the cash to sign them Surrey could be useful.

If this was London or Leicester then I would agree but for Surrey any one of those players would bring great experience to their squad. A team last year that won no trophies but I felt did a great job or making us fear them was Bristol. If Surrey can become like the Flyers and a team that will atleast give the heavy weights a nightmare game then that would be a win in my eyes.

I agree with you, it’s more a case of whether they still want to play. I think Surrey would have a good season if those 4 players signed. They bring a lot of experience and they know each other well.

For that it would depend on the offers from Surrey and the other clubs as well as what else they have lined up for them. If I was in their shoes and getting paid another to play pro ball even for Surrey then if I had nothing else I would consider it. And from listening to Zaire Taylor on the BBL Show afew weeks ago it was fascinating to hear about how he went to Worthing and it opened door for him to expand into other areas of the business. Looking at how London treated Vince last year and didn't offer or get him to at least stay on with the team in another role for his expertise. Maybe another club BBL or even Divison 1 would be more welcoming of a familiar face.

I didn’t catch any of Cheshire last year, what have we picked up here?
Also, could anyone venture a guess at where he might line up in the depth chart now the roster is starting to take shape?

Good solid person as part of your squad. Not a starter but gives you enthusiasm and effort when he plays. Nix used him to mark opposition key players, offensively can be a really fast attacker drives in from a long way out. Nice fella too.
