Once again I’m maybe in a unique position here, I’m really hoping for a Sevenoaks win in the WBBL final but a London win in the BBL final. I even contemplated taking an outfit change for between the games. My support for Sevenoaks has grown this year. They’ve been the team that’s arguably dominated the WBBL for the past few years, despite being a low budget community based club. They’ve lost their home court in Sevenoaks, I believe because it doesn’t meet WBBL standards (fair enough, it’s a private schools gym with no spectator seating), and have been forced to relocate to Surrey Sports Park – in an entirely different county, 40+ miles and almost an hour’s drive from Sevenoaks. Plus their plans for their own arena in nearer by Swanley have had to be abandoning due to financial shortcomings as a result of the pandemic. And now the London Lions have come along, a team who have historically struggled in the WBBL, with new owners and a phenomenal budget, and blown Sevenoaks out the water. A real David v Goliath. Go Sevenoaks!

There are rumours that this could be Cat Carr's final game before retirement. If so that's quite historic, she's been a dominant force for Sevenoaks Suns and the WBBL over the years.

In the end a comfortable Lions win, 70-45. Looked like a good crowd in for it though.

Followed the game this afternoon and it wasn't bad. Congrats to the Lionesses for the Quadruple.

In the end a comfortable Lions win, 70-45. Looked like a good crowd in for it though. I'm not sure I'd say comfortable... a 25 point victory doesn't really give a representational view of the game in my opinion. Although it never really looked like Sevenoaks were going to win it, apart from perhaps really early on, they kept it competitive until the final quarter. Feels like a 15 point victory would have been more just, but regardless, congrats to London. A great game to witness, and I thoroughly enjoyed confusing all the people around me in the arena by cheering on Sevenoaks whilst wearing a London Lions shirt (for the men's game). Sevenoaks Suns are still a phenomenal WBBL team. Just not quite as phenomenal as London Lions now are.

Lions soundly beat Suns - it definitely was a comfortable win. Sevenoaks outscored London by 5 in Q1. London outscored Sevenoaks by 10 in Q2. London outscored Sevenoaks by 1 in Q3. London outscored Sevenoaks by 19 in Q4. Field Goals - 31% London, 29% Sevenoaks. Yes, London looked like they were in control for the almost the entire game. But apart from Q4 it was competitive. A comfortable win for Lions ultimately, but it wasn't a blow-out despite what the final score may suggest. Just my opinion.
