Seeing how the NBA have called up players from the G League due to the Covid issues and from watching the annual football transfer window.
I began to wonder what it would be like if the BBL or Fiba Europe ever did something similar and they sent players on loan to and from other clubs. I know it would never happen cause of the import rules in the BBL.
Your thoughts?

Admittedly nothing is done 'on loan', but I'd argue there sort of is a transfer window in the BBL - or at least a deadline for new signings during the season, new singings which often are coming across from elsewhere in FIBA. Like I said, I accept these aren't loans, but they are players being released by one team and then picked up by another team, before a deadline. That's how I've always looked at it anyway.

In an ideal world we’d see more of what goes on at Leicester/Loughborough with the likes of Greg Wild and Viktor Ndoukou playing for both, I think that is the only realistic use of anything like a loan/academy system, I wish it was a more valid pathway so we’d see more kids stay here rather than go to play in America but I don’t think a loan system would ever work because teams have small squads and almost everyone is on one year deals so there’s never going to much use for it imo

To be honest I imagine it would be more the BBL relying on loan players then the other way if it did happen. Last week before playing London I would have said we could have used with Riders loaning us Washington or Sharks loaning us Glasgow in order to help us fight for the Trophy. Just imagine if you were a bench player at the Greek club Olympiacous and you were sent on loan to the BBL.

The only transfer window is really a self imposed one - i.e. when you sign someone, they can only play a set number of games that you can cut them without having to pay them for the rest of the season (isn't it around 8?).

Imagine a Transfer deadline day, Dan Routledge is outside Leicester's Arena and then rumours fly of a major signing from the NBA but it turns out it was MBA instead.
