Just saw this on the Eagles FB page
Newcastle Eagles have parted company with main sponsor GiveToLocal prior to the end of an agreed two-year partnership with the Tyneside-based sport organisation.
British basketball’s most successful franchise will remove all GiveToLocal branding from the club’s playing kit, website, social media channels and sites across the Vertu Motors Arena with immediate effect.
Both the club’s BBL and WBBL teams are set to compete without a main shirt sponsor for the first time this season when Newcastle’s rosters return to homecourt action this weekend.
“We had hoped that GiveToLocal would commit to the level of support agreed but that hasn’t happened,” explained Newcastle Eagles’ managing director, Paul Blake.
“The loss of this expected income has, without doubt, limited our ability to manoeuvre this season.
“Our only option is to part company with GiveToLocal but there will be no impact on our exciting plans for the future.
“Indeed, the exposure we continue to enjoy on Sky Sports — alongside unrivalled TV, online and print coverage across regional and national media — means Newcastle Eagles, the BBL and the WBBL continue to offer prospective partners unique ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
I did also hear that they are lining up a new sponsor……….it going to be Butlins….due to the fact that their season also finishes in October

To lose their names on kits with immediate effect demonstrates these sponsors haven't delivered what they promised
With Eagles still getting biggest crowds in the league Eagles have delivered their bit in the partnership
I'm sure it won't be long before Eagles announce new sponsors
Interesting comment re the lack of sponsorship hindering Eagle's ability to compete this season

Not overly surprised by this, they always seemed a bit of a strange organisation.

I had been saying all along loosing Esh Group (the largest regional building and maintenance contractor up here) and replacing them with a strange charity middle man organisation was going to be a huge loss of revenue. Reading between the lines not only was that sponsorship worth significantly less than Esh they weren't even paying what they said they would 🙄

Don't joke about Butlins - they sponsored Worthing Bears in 1996/97 and also ended their sponsorship prematurely. But frankly it was really embarrassing to be known as 'the Butlin Bears' as Butlins had a terrible reputation back then!

Crikey our season is getting worse off the court as well as on the court. Sad news to hear although I like to think with our reputation and the fact we got Vertu Motors to sponsor our arena the Eagles will have no problem finding a replacement sponsor.
I mean we have a corporate section in the arena where the sky cameras so I wonder if anyone might look at that as an opportunity. Although given the results this season it might not be as appealing as past teams.

Maybe this forum could club together and sponsor Eagles shirts between now and end of season?
We could propose paying them a staggered fee based on matches they win until end of season
Shouldn't cost us much?
They might even end up owing us money based on recent form?

Is anyone else old/ sad enough to remember when the old London YMCA team of the late-70s/ early 80s were named after their sponsor, Slick Willies?

If their an outsourcing company do you think their reps get any Eagles fans phoning up asking for the manager? If you worked in a call centre you know what I mean. 🤣
