Saw this a few hours ago on twitter and thought it was worth a mention - its good to see someone on the inside give an insight into how he thinks when it comes to bettering the game.

Shocked he said the money shouldn't just go to the players. He's right, I was just shocked he said it

Shocked he said the money shouldn't just go to the players. He's right, I was just shocked he said it Its refreshing and I really appreciate the honesty and objectiveness rather than just say something in his own interests. I saw Geno C debate with DaveF on twitter saying that the 777 money should be spent on better quality players and couldnt have disagreed more (despite there being a "build it and theyll come" school of thought). Basketball has to focus on returning customers - its ok filling seats with new customers but you have to build a strong fanbase (look at Riders/Newcastle as prime examples - as ever!) and I think that has to be where resources need to be used.

I thibk they need to centralise how things are done. Gems like Joel Osborne in Bristol need to be the standard. Hire people like Dezereels to go to different games and make his hype videos which add huge value.

Geno got a bit sarcastic with me when I said it made no sense for 777 to put this money towards player salaries, obviously players are gonna want a bigger piece of the pie and are going to see things from their own perspective but it’s a complete no go imo, a moderate increase in player budget is going to do absolutely nothing for attendances in the short, medium or long term

Just watch the video and I agree with pretty much everything he said, I don’t think there is one clear, easy way to grow the league but I think there needs to be lots of small improvements that are done consistently around the league, BBL player being an important one that he mentioned

I feel in recent years ther has been a major different between players ants and organisations wants. Josh breaks that mould very articulately and speaks very well. Alot of his pro colleagues could learn a thing or 2 instead of typing with their knuckles on twitter etc
