I can't say that this is the worst Eagles team I have supported but that was the worst performance that I can remember, ever. Does anyone know what happened with Wes Person jnr? We missed his points and energy but that cannot excuse Eagles abject performances at both ends of the court. Our defence has lost its intensity with Sharks either being allowed or creating a lane to drive into. That consequently affected the offensive end, we simply could not put the ball in the bucket.
I can't see how we turn this around but with 8 games in 26 days it does not bode well. It could be a play off decider on April 22nd.

All rather baffling because I'd argue that on paper their roster should make them competitive against other BBL teams. Peel, Johnson, Ratinho, Fletcher, Person Jr, Gordon, Defoe (for limited minutes) makes for a decent line-up in anyone's book, surely? So...why can't they put together decent performances for 40minutes? For me it's a character thing, which is something more evident when watching in person rather than on Sky. With the exception of Defoe, Fletch and Gordon the rest of the team seem pretty comfortable with losing. For example if Wes Person has got his 20+ points in a loss, he's posting those stats on his social media. That's embarrassing in my opinion, there's a time and a place for that. Not an hour after the game. It's a bad mix of players regardless of talent and I hope lessons have been learned for next season. I can only guess at what the budget is compared to the rest of the league, but a lot of money has been wasted this season. Re the player posting personal stats after losing A strong coach and strong teammates should be crucifying him

As this season ticks by, I'm questioning the sort of environment that's been created there.

A player posting out stats in a loss is him promoting himself. The season is over and he needs a new job

That sort of stuff wouldnt be tolerated under fab, this coaching team are out of there depth.. what does stronach add for example?

Having abandoned Eagles with 2 min to go on bblplayer, I watched Riders on Sky - it was like switching from bbl to NBA with difficult shots actually going in ! I suspect The Lions match will now be a “relegation 6 pointer” with the twist that both teams will be trying to AVOID the playoffs ! 2021/22 Season RIP

I agree they have to be proactive with that side of things, but there is an appropriate time to do so. Not straight after a game, you're supposed to be a professional athlete in a team sport. I wouldn't sign someone doing that anyway, it's a red flag.

I've seen it where the in-house announcer has given out a players' point total for the game and the player has corrected him as he's jogged past because he announced 2 points fewer than what he actually had. My thought was 'I cant believe he's keeping count of his personal tally' and yes, guess what - his team was getting spanked at the time. It is terrible and not something other coaches or managers want to see if they're recruiting. It's the sort of thing you expect from teenagers, by the time guys turn pro they should have learned that what gets you contracts and money is being a team player and caring about the team and winning, not your own personal glory. Some guys never do seem to quite get that.
Reminds me of Coach Carter where one of the kids brags about his points and rebounds in the last game and Carter shouts him down by mentioning how many free throws he missed and his turnovers.

Fellas youre talking like you've all sepnt years as head coaches of pro clubs. Coaches want players who can score, you don't get contracts up the ladder for being a good team mate or being quiet in a loss. Yeah what you're saying is true if they wanted to stay here but no Coach in the French nm1 or German prob are looking at the win loss of the team because its irrelevant.
Lose every game and you're averaging 20 a game means you're probably being double teamed.

Given their huge support and regularly selling out their arena, I am at a loss to understand why Eagles have underperformed so often this season. That means a solid revenue. They can afford very good quality players and to go deep with their roster, and yet... The responsibility for that must lie predominantly with the coach, surely? I wonder how long the organisation will give him to turn things around.

Even the positivity of bringing Justin Gordon back in hasn’t saved the eagles performances from remaining below the level required expected of the eagles

The foundations should really be there but they're clearly not

But as we have seen with Lions this season and past seasons bringing in top quality players doesn't necessarily give you the best team. And you can end up running the risk of recruit bigger egos rather then ball handling skills. And in terms of talent the only way I can describe it is like someone seeing Pizza advertised on the TV but never made one. Went out and bought all the right ingredients and then in the end all the end product didn't match the gorgeous photos of the Pizza you saw on TV because you made a mistake in the baking process. Another thing I have noticed with the is we don't seem to do as much community work anymore. Usually at the matches theirs sometimes a story about something the team and players have done in the community. Despite have quite alot of weekends without a game I'm surprised this season more then ever theirs not much noise on any community work?

If you have an established culture it doesn't matter the players, that comes from the top.
Look at how many new guys Leicester have in the last 2 years? 10 new guys? Culture remains the same.

Discipline Putting Team First Hard work and 100 per cent effort In training and in matches All these are part of a basic culture we are guaranteed week in week out at Riders under Rob Regardless of performance (which obviously can go up and down) Just basic good habits that give you a starting chance I would suggest Eagles don't come close to the above right now with their culture

I've never coached basketball in my life, but I have spent years listening to what head coaches have to say about basketball, and the successful ones are definitely looking for more than just empty stats. I think I heard at the weekend that Rob P is spending time looking at players social media profiles and trying to gauge what kind of characters he brings to the team. Even with an established culture l, it sometimes only takes one or two dissenting voices to start affecting things.
