I think Jumbo is quite right with his summary of the league but it's the bottom bit that's dropped.
Glasgow, Surrey and Plymouth are using shadows of their budgets of previous years and incarnations, probably mainly down to covid.
The middle of the pack seem to be the same or slightly better, Cheshire and Manchester have cleared invested a bit more this year but have got lucky with 2 coaches players genuinely want to play for. Teddy for example made it very clear he wanted to play for Ben Thomas as did Dan Clark with Manchester.
Bristol and Sheffield are pretty much identical to previous seasons
London clearly have a money pit bit but after hearing vince talk it's clear their focus was Europe and Europe only.
Leicester have probably spent a bit more on their 1-8 but have really utilised Loughborough tbis season having the likes of wild and walshe playing up. Seeing as they can only do that until their 23 maybe it's a cost saving exercise for those guys to get experience before coming full time to Riders. The money saved maybe because of Europe beconing or covid costing.
Newcastle are probably spending a bit more than usual because of player injuries. They've suffered a lot this year and its gone unnoticed or uncommented on how much disruption this causes. They've lost time to gel, to build and ultimately made their chance of success 10x harder. Without Defoe and fletch being who they are and knowing Newcastle basketball like their back of their hand I imagine it would've been even worse

And knowing the best way to deal with them One of the few disadvantages from having such continuity?

Knowing how to stop them and actually being able to do that are separate things.
Does it make the scouting report easier? Absolutely
Are there numbers still at the same level? Also Absolutely lol

All teams have to deal with injuries. Eagles had enough players on their roster to cope.

All teams have to deal with injuries. Eagles had enough players on their roster to cope. Since I've watched BBL it's become clear to me that having a system/plan/culture that involves assembling a deeper squad where players play to a system and share minutes etc allows teams to cope better with inevitable injuries that are part and parcel of the game and something you have to overcome to challenge for the league Riders have a system that can cope with key injuries Eagles do not Despite what I imagine are similar player salary budgets You have to be able to create a squad that can deal with key injuries Even when Eagles were better than now (in recent seasons) you always knew Defoe would get injured for a few weeks at some stage and the wheels would fall off at Eagles when he did And woe betide if Fletch ever got injured (which was far less likely than Defoe tbf) Regardless Fletch always ends up having to play more minutes with less energy than if Eagles went deeper of course (Which can't help the older he gets) Not sure how we got here in Morningside Arena extension thread? Was it my fault?

I was wondering that too? Made me nostalgic for the old WB when every thread seemed to be about either Riders or Eagles.....or both of course ;-)
