You would think this would be two home wins right?
Gareth Murrey kind of relieved doesn't have to face what look like an ever improving Lions team at the Copper Box, with the disjointed team that he had

Surrey are very easy on the eye, 17 assists from 18 made shots in the first half.

One word to sum up tonights game. It would be "how?". Once again when it looked like we deserved defeat we somehow managed to overcome and go on to win luckily.
Firstly credit to Surrey for proving to be a tougher test then I expected them to be. I was suprised they weren't renamed the Surrey Speedsters the way they ran rings round us. And their 3 pointers were killing us tonight. Their defence on us was really isolating and making life difficult for the Eagles inside.
As for the Eagles we kept in it but made hardworking of that win up until the last 5 minutes where we managed to retake the lead and get the W. Cole Long had his best game so far for us and kept us in it. And whilst I hope hes not rushed back to soon it was also great to see Josh back in action for us.
Overall great to see us get the win but looking at our end of November-December schedule and who we are up against. We may have gotten out of jail against Surrey but we certainly will need to up our game for when we play Dziki, Cheshire, Leicester and Voluntari. If their isn't atleast 1 or 2 losses in their then it will be a miracle.
But for now I'm glad we got the win and hope the Gladiators are unable to recover for their rough night in London so we can go 2 for 2 before the international break.

I had to watch the last five minutes back again as I couldn't believe Surrey blew it. That seemed in total control and then bish, bash, bosh, they were playing catch up. Surrey play great team ball and are a joy to watch, but Eagles found a way. Definitely one to watch again. Oh and if we could hit free throws...

London are looking good again and I hate it. Hopefully Cheshire can put them back in their place on Sunday.
Eagles grinding out another win whilst undersized and playing pretty badly mostly, sensational night for Cole Long 6 from 8 from 3. Surrey seemed to play well, shot well from 3, made things hard for Eagles defensively, they don't have a defensive leader on court and are pretty small when playing Gooden and Ray at the same time.

Eagles just seemed to stick around and kept in range then upped the defence for the final 5 mins, forced Surrey into some low percentage shots

I wouldn't read too much into tonight's result. I've watched Glads a few times and they're poor this season. Which is a shame as I've always had a soft spot for them ever since the original Rocks.

The Gladiators I ain't going to be worried about until the Cup game at the moment. Mainly because the last game at home before Christmas in recent years has always resulted in a loss for us. But the Dziki, Nix, Riders and Voluntari are the sort of teams which if we play like that then they will most likely take advantage and rip us to shreads. Nix so far have already proven that we need to bring our A game not C game in order to beat them. And although we arent as familliar with our ENBL opponents to know what to exactly what to expect. I suspect the other 3 teams will not allow us to win by fluke either since their at the higher end of the Group A table right now.

This is a really gutsy Eagles team, who seem to have found a knack for grinding out wins while playing poorly. We're a point guard away from being a really good team, just not sure Bynum will be the answer. He's been pretty average and his minutes have declined as time has gone by, I hope he's just carrying an injury but fear it's more confidence/ability related. He's very small and doesn't appear to have that turn of pace and athleticism that small guards need in this league to do well. Marc seemed to lose patience with him tonight as he didn't seem to want the ball.

Interesting how you can read games differently - I only watched the 2nd half of Eagles vs Surrey and I felt the Eagles had it in the bag the entire time. The 89ers looked to me like they were struggling to hold on - must have played at a much higher level in the first.
