I know from experience of ice hockey about sideways moves, the GM of Glasgow Clan was supposed to have been removed after the aborted signing of a Finnish guy who fled the US on SA charges. The GM was moved sideways to Arena Manager but as it turns out, he never really left the GM role.
Gareth was a good servant for the years he gave to the Rocks, obviously a change was needed but I don't see the EK team taking full advantage of Timoney's Millions.

the surprise is the speed at which a new player has been added - and a player cut Got to assume the recruit was Gareths choice which makes the timing of his removal as head coach more perplexing.

At what point did they attempt to support Gareth I wonder. A rookie coach Is how so many bbl teams recruit and coaching is np easy feat. Replacing Alan Keane with Daryl Woods was the beginning of the end really. Last season Glads starting with Alan and Daryl on the bench.

If you want to be a serious team and challenge for trophies, especially with who owns the EK team then sometimes it's better to change. Yes the EK team has won silverware but you have to be consistent, injuries can happen to any team but they adapt. 'The ek team' come on now

No suprised really but I'm glad they did it in the right way and were able to move Gareth on to elsewhere in the organisation instead of getting rid of him like when the Lions booted Vince out. Question is now who will they get to replace him? Perhaps Paul James or Matt Newby if your looking for experienced Ex BBL coaches. Or will they look to go for a new unknown coach from overseas? Given Lluis Riera's credentials, do you think Gladiators are seeking another coach this season? From the SLB site: Murray’s replacement, Riera, has an impressive resume of work at the highest levels of basketball in Europe, most notably serving as an Assistant Coach in Spain’s presitgious ACB League for Club Joventut Badalona (2011-2018), Baskonia (2018-19) and Girona (2023-24) as well as sampling international basketball as Assistant Coach of the Czechia Men’s National Team since 2023. He has also coached at club level in Estonia as a Head Coach for Avis Rapla KK in 2021 and as an Assistant Coach for Zenit in Russia in the 2019-20 season.

Newby has left the eagles but can’t see him ending up at Caledonian can we? I think they said he left for personal reasons. I doubt you'll see him up here.

Newby has left the eagles but can’t see him ending up at Caledonian can we? He'd be an excellent choice imo but isn't he already under contract in Leeds? He was juggling two coaching roles wasn't he, while at Newcastle?

Gareth royally messed but by putt8ng Daryl above him
