The draw for the SLB Cup was drawn this afternoon with all the ties taking place on the 13th,14th and 15th December weekend. All the wildcard teams from Basketball England and Scotland were given home court for round 1 and the ties ended up being....
TOP HALF
Hemel Storm vs Manchester Giants Falkirk Fury vs Leicester Riders
St Mirren vs London Lions Derby Trailblazers vs Surrey 89ers
BOTTOM HALF Reading Rockets vs Sheffield Sharks Nottingham Hoods vs Cheshire Phoenix
Essex Rebels vs Bristol Flyers Newcastle Eagles vs Caledonia Gladiators

I can see Derby beating Surrey, be interesting to see how that one goes. Now I'm assuming from the draw there was no possibility of the wildcard teams getting each other in the draw? So they all face a tough test first up. Eagles and Caledonia could consider themselves unlucky on that basis.

with the agreed format it was always going to throw up different and interesting match ups. the depth of imports should be a huge factor for the SLB sides but there are lots of new and unusual venues for these teams. it would have been great for falkirk or st mirren to have drawn glads but they have marquee home ties vs riders and lions respectively. hemel will be a difficult place for mancs to go to and reading's tight loddon valley will be rocking for the visit of the sharks. nix will really enjoy the quality court at hoods. looking forward to watching blazers vs 89ers. finally, i hope essex can get 2k capacity in vs flyers it's a huge occasion for them.
will any SLB club's supporters be making the trips to these new away games?

I'm happy we drew Caledonia at home although with a Semi Final against Riders to play plus the ENBL games I'm worried this could be a lot to manage unless they deepen our roster. Would also welcome a home game on the 20th December as well. If the Trophy is 2 legs it would make sense to play Riders at home on the 20th and then the away game on the 22nd Dec gets changed to the away leg instead of a championship game.

The game against Riders on the 22nd December has already been announced as our home leg of the SLB Trophy semi-final. Just waiting for Eagles to announce their home leg.

It was announced our Cup tie against the Gladiators will be taking place on the 20th December 2024 making it the last game before Christmas at home as well.
On the 6th December we now also play at home against Riders in the 1st leg of the Trophy semi finals.
With the ENBL games on top of this it looks like its going to be a challenging month for the Eagles unless we can get some more players to bolster our ranks.

Would be nice if someone at Riders could update our online fixture list to reflect the myriad of changes that have been made since the season began. Looks like no one's touched the page for months now and the advertised December schedule is not only wildly inaccurate but potentially confusing for anyone going on the site to buy tickets.
