Might be worth adding that the London/Sheffield game is the first SLB Championship game of the season, and the Newcastle/Manchester is the last (and meaningless) SLB Trophy group game of the season.

The first of 3 games in 5 days for Newcastle, so hoping that they give the new PG a good run & generally rest up as many of the front line troops as possible. The result is irrelevant - whatever happens Eagles finish 2nd in their Trophy group & face Leicester in the semis.

Same old story for Sharks. No offensive movement, static iso play. Feel sorry for some of the players. Clearly signed some talented players but Lyons has no idea at all on offence
London played well but these are not the Lions of last year and will be middle of the pack I feel yet hammered the Sharks easily.
The new owner has increaed the budget and signed a lot of talented players but Lyons has no idea how to get anything out of them. It's like watching kids just jacking up shots.
He will cut a few players and bring a few more in but maybe eventually they might realise the problem is closer to home.
Might seem harsh but I thought this year with some really versatile offensive players we would score more points and play a better brand of basketball but it's awful to watch.
If the two guards are not hitting their shots, we will lose most games as that is all we have. There is nothing inside to outside and no ball movement, screens, pick and rolls. It's ghastly to watch.

(RANT ALERT) If the plan for our game against Manchester tonight was supposed to be nothing more then a friendly. Then clearly some players did not get the memo as it got feisty out there especially towards the end.
Although I would have given the win to the Manchester as they had our number tonight. They certainly made a poor show of themselves in the sportsmanship department. Especially at the end from Moore who acted like a right twat.
The offence from Manchester was like watching a charging bull with them charging head first into players like it was NFL they were playing. The officials missed a lot tonight and granted were fair to both sides until the very end where they completed lost control and were boo'd out embarrassingly.
How the 3 of them missed that 8 second violation. I hope when they watch it back the SLB tear them apart for it. If not I'm glad Stetuel wasn't afraid to let them know what we were all thinking. It was no wonder tempers flared at the end of the game.
Before this I felt sorry for Manchester and was wishing them luck. Although after tonight I would want to rename them "Manchester Muppets". With the game pretty much over, I was furious they decided to still play on and cheaply/disrespectfully score on us at the end.
Despite the defeat I'm glad this didn't stop us from going through. After this game I hope next time we play Manchester we remember this night and go out with the intention of destroying them.
The only positive from the Eagles tonight was seeing Kandes first team debut and him win MVP. All I can say for now though is roll on Gladiators on Sunday.

Manchester are a big, physical team. They will play it up a bit rough and probably get in foul trouble allot. Meaningless game, let them have the win they are already out.
Didn’t expect Sharks to roll over quite so easily. Without Jamell on the court they look rough….. Great start to the trophy campaign. Hoping they haven’t peaked already!

Absolutely. The man is completely incompetent. He’s been in charge now for the same number of games as Brandon, Finch and Scants combined and that is utterly depressing. We have our arena, we have a new owner and we have money and we’re still not really competitive. Sharks need to realise why and get rid.

The panto opened early in Newcastle last night, starring Moore as the baddy who loves being booed. Strangely relaxing and entertaining to watch since the game didn’t matter to Eagles, but not happy to see Darius hobbling around…… Manchester have size and talent. And more than their fair share of panto dames.

Well we wondered what the North South divide might be like following the Trophy group stages and, yes folks, it's still there 🤦 Lions absolutely thumped the Sharks last night, and any championship aspirations in Sheffield look a way off at present. We've heard about illness in the squad, Jamell going down (🤞) and foul trouble but this performance and last week's were so lack lustre. Bozic put on a coaching master class to thoroughly exploit our lack of size in the middle. New signing looks like he might fill a big hole for us and that will help turn things around, but we can't just fall apart whenever there's adversity or this will be a very long season. Ultimately Mr Millette has got to be looking for some return on his investment in the squad.

With him injured along with Neighbour it makes us look badly prepared for the rest of the season. I hope his injury isn't anything serious and he is back before Christmas.

Is Neighbour ever NOT injured? It's hard to notice sometimes, he's so ineffective when he actually does play.
