Exciting news indeed and good to see the SLB trying to expand the league by showcasing the game to area without a franchise. Although given Kevin Routledges move to Nottingham Hoods this past off season. If this isn't a sign that Nottingham clearly has plans to join the SLB then I'd be gob smacked indeed. Look forward to seeing the game and the draw when it is eventually done.

It was Russell Levenston that moved to Hoods.. My apologies I got those mixed up. This couldn't be any more unambiguous. There can be absolutely no doubt. This might as well be an announcement that Nottingham will have a team in SLB very soon.

I've said this for years, cup finals should be held in cities/towns where clubs have top flight ambition. Give Nottingham the Cup and trophy final for 3 years to help build more fans. They'll need the new fans to continue building. 1000 fans in nbl1 is amazing, it's rubbish for bbl

The final is in Nottingham for just one reason, it is a significantly cheaper venue than the NIA in Birmingham.

I think it makes more sense to have finals in central locations rather than extreme north or south - should help more fans for the 2 teams attend and doesn't unfairly penalise one team for having to travel a huge distance (if say Glasgow or Eagles were playing one of the south teams and its in Glasgow)

Whilst I'm happy to see the Cup rolled out to a new and potential SLB franchise location. I would say this kind of stations all 3 finals fairly southern way now we don't have one in Scotland. Although that being said I suppose it depends on where you are in the country and what you personally perceive as a north/south divide.

Came complete with bagpipes and the Proclaimers (however we still should have covered that 3 pointer from Sloan in the corner)!!

in my younger days, enjoyed a couple of ISL play-off weekends at the Nottingham Arena - was always a cracking atmosphere and one of the years the 2nd ice-pad area was used for more stalls and fan zone type stuff. Be interesting to see how it comes across for bball.
was a nice change of scenery when went to Nottingham - but the downside was hotels tended to cost us more there than they did when play-off weekend was in Manchester. I guess, apart from Gladiator fans though, that will be less of an issue as everyone else can do it in a not to bad day trip.

Having a Great Britain basketball team and British league rather than separate ones for Scotland and England, I always felt having one of the finals in Scotland was fair, but now we're in a new era with SLB and Caledonia Gladiators playing in FIBA Europe I think it's ok to move past that use one of the finals to showcase the league in a different city. O2 and NIA Birmingham arenas are well established so I wouldn't want to change either of those.

Bring it on.

The final is in Nottingham for just one reason, it is a significantly cheaper venue than the NIA in Birmingham. As has been said, Nottingham is replacing the Emirates in Glasgow, not the Utilita in Birmingham. But I believe at least part of the reason the Cup Final is moving to Nottingham is because the BBL had a legacy deal with the Emirates in Glasgow which meant they were getting the venue at a discounted rate, a deal that presumably SBL didn't inherit. And the other reason, as said, is obviously to open the door to Nottingham Hoods joining the SLB.
