Sounds like its going to be a bit of a dissapointing games in general with a lack of sports. Can't blame Glasgow for the budget and for picking the games up late. That being said after enjoying the Paralympics this past summer I suppose it is good to see more opportunitiesfor para sports.

I'm honestly shocked. Only 10 sports and 3x3 gets in. The only other team sport in is netball. Rugby sevens, hockey, cricket and beach volleyball are all out. Team sports were added to the Commonwealth Games in 1998.
Badminton is also out.

I wonder who will be in the Scotland 3X3 team. They're going to want to play their absolute best players.

5 on 5 basketball was never going to be included with 15 sports being cut, but to include basketball at all is a big vote for basketball. Also with almost all of the other team sports cut 3x3 is going to get more people watching than ever before.

They'll need a 4th player too don't forget!
I think it's fine, the whole event looks so watered down, I don't know how many people will really care but I do think a lot of kids will watch the 3x3 and think that's something they can easily do at a park, even with just 1 hoop, so that could be good for the sport.

Having looked at the article again it seems interesting that boxing is being included considering they're was debates to get rid of it after this past summer for the next Olympic Games in 2028. Personally I quite enjoy the boxing so would like it to stay in. Although sad to see the badminton got dropped. The only thing I picked up on is them saying the games will be like no other. Considering the criticism and what Paris 2024 did with the opening and closing ceremony. I really hope they doesnt mean they'll try to do something daft like stage the opening ceremony on top of Ben Nevis.

My wife and daughters like the rhythmic gymnastics. It's a shame that's out because there's no other high profile tournament for British rhythmic gymnasts.

Am I the only one who thinks a Super League Basketball 3x3 event is likely in the future?
3x3 seems to be the basketball world's chosen tactic for growing the sport, so I could see SLB doing something like the British Basketball All Star Championship even again, with all SLB teams taking part, but with a 3x3 format. And to be honest, as a one day event to grow the league/sport, I wouldn't be against it. Let's be honest, it can't be less well received than last seasons All-Star game!
